Holiday Home Rental Description
Welcome to Palais Makinat, a stunning 1,700m2 Indo-Moorish villa located in the countryside of Marrakech, 20km from the Pink City on the road to Fez. This lavish 9-bedroom villa effortlessly accommodates up to 18 guests, promising an unparalleled blend of opulence and tranquillity for an unforgettable escape.
Stepping through the arched entrance bounded by stout urns and tall palms, guests are greeted by a world of ornate splendour, a realm where every corner exudes the bright, intricate patterns of Moroccan style and design. True to its name, this palatial estate boasts a number of spacious salons, not to mention the sprawling 2-hectare gardens, ensuring a seamless indoor-outdoor experience where guests can flow and congregate in a convivial manner.
The Grand Salon with seating for up to 20 guests opens onto the main covered terrace and dining space and features plush sofas, a warming fireplace, chic ornamental furnishings, and a library of ancient books. Another library can be found in the nearby TV lounge which boats elegant rattan couches, floor-to-ceiling arched windows framing the lush courtyard, and an array of tasteful sculptural touches. An adjacent meeting room and bar provides another art-filled setting to mingle and marvel.
A fully equipped kitchen, staffed by a skilled culinary team, invites guests to savour the flavours of Moroccan cuisine in any of the three elegant indoor and al fresco dining areas. The main interior dining room seats 18 guests with its monumental statue of Ganesh at one end and at the other an exquisitely tiled mosaic wall fountain. A further outdoor dining room, and a terrace lounge (both comfortably seating 18 guests) ensure that every meal at Palais Makinat is an extravagant experience for the senses.
The splendour and intrigue of communal spaces is finely balanced by the opulence and serenity of Palais Makinat’s nine bedrooms, each thoughtfully designed to be a sanctuary of its own. The sprawling master suite is well-situated on the rooftop terrace with panoramic views of the pool, garden, and Atlas Mountains. This sprawling bedroom boasts its own living room and fireplace, marble bathroom with jacuzzi, walk-in shower, dressing room and private terrace of lush greenery.
Across the rooftop sunset lounge can be found another expansive bedroom with panoramic views and a stunning domed ceiling. With an ensuite including a free-standing tub, the room also includes a private terrace and bay windows looking out through swaying palm fronds onto the garden. The rooftop terrace’s final room is another sprawling setting on the sunrise side of the villa. Also boasting a domed ceiling, this room and dressing room has an ensuite bathroom and private furnished terrace.
Six further rooms boast queen-sized beds, ensuites, and private furnished terraces or access to the villa’s turquoise or beige-toned galleries. Each boasts Moroccan rugs underfoot, sophisticated wood-carved furniture, and beautiful décor of lanterns and richly hued textiles in spaces flooded with natural light.
Beyond the bedrooms and communal spaces, the Palais Makinat unfolds to reveal a haven of leisure. Dive into the azure waters of the private pool, enveloped by the verdant embrace of the 2-hectare park and garden, or unwind in the hammam for a rejuvenating spa experience. Whether you’re lounging in the sun-dappled courtyard or finding respite in the secluded corners of the villa, every moment at Palais Makinat is an invitation to indulge in the beauty and serenity of this pink palace.
What is more, by generating its own power from a solar array on the rooftop of an annex, recycling waste and composting organic waste, Palais Makinat has achieved a positive ecological balance that makes its lush lifestyle all the more enjoyable.

Conveniently situated approximately 20km from the pink heart of Marrakech on the road to Fez, Palais Makinat offers the perfect balance of opulent retreat without losing touch with the region’s endless attractions and activities.
Of course, the most lavish of those activities begin in Palais Makinat itself. The villa offers its guests a spacious marble hammam and a rage of body treatments, including rhassoul scrub and essential oil massages for levels of relaxation that will have you debating whether you’ll ever leave.
Thanks to Palais Makinat’s fully staffed and equipped kitchen, guests won’t have to lift a hand that isn’t on its way to their mouth. However, after tasting Chef Fatima’s sumptuous Moroccan cuisine there’s a good chance you’ll want to take some recipes home. Thankfully, Chef Fatima’s cooking classes can teach guests the subtle secrets of Moroccan cooking, including delicious tagines and pastilla.
Palais Makinat also makes it easy to make excursions to nearby attractions including, of course, the Pink City (Marrakech) a short drive (30-minutes) from the villa. A daytrip to the city includes visits to monuments such as the Bahi Palace, the Saadian Tombs, the medina and kasbah neighbourhoods and the Majorelle Garden. Don’t forget to check out the colourful and lively souks starting from the magnificent Djemma el-Fna square and leading through the spice square with its famous Berber herbalists to the Mouassine bazaar.
There is also opportunity to explore Essaouria (2.5-hour drive), this jewel of the Atlantic coast is a fortified city founded by Portuguese explorers in 1506 and listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.
For the more adventurous guests looking to get a bird’s eye view of the region’s stunning landscape there are hot air balloon flights. Taking off before dawn from the Palmeraie of Marrakech (10-minute drive), the flight covers the landscapes of the Al Haouz plain as the sun rising over the pink city and snow-capped Atlas mountains.
And for those whose perfect idea of a holiday always includes a stroll around the links, there is no shortage of top-class golf courses close at hand, including the historic Golf Royal with its famed Brigitte Bardot hole, Palm Golf Marrakech, and Amelkis.
