Rent Villa Oinos Greece
Holiday Home Rental Description
Staying is believing when you vacation in the incredible Villa Oinos, overlooking the azure waters of the Aegean Sea, on the north coast of the Greek island of Crete. This three-storey, detached villa has six spacious double bedrooms, and can comfortably accommodate up to fifteen guests, ideal for a large family gathering, or a group of friends’ get-together. The architect-designed Villa Oinos is built into the verdant slopes of the holiday hot spot of Platanias, set in its own enclosed grounds, and tiered gardens, with a superb infinity swimming pool. The villa comes complete with secure parking, complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, a central music system, gym, Jacuzzi, games room, and basketball court.
The modern property is constructed out of classic Mediterranean whitewashed walls, with floor-to-ceiling windows, that flood the villa with natural light, and give access to sea-view terraces. The interiors are super stylish, furnished with designer contemporary pieces, lots of funky art and artefacts, and decorated in a colour palette of crisp whites, hues of blues, and splashes of primary colours. The vibe is a laid-back, luxury holiday home from home.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will be welcomed by a light and airy open plan living space, with breath-taking panoramic sea views. The seating area has a large white L-shaped sofa, a matching pouffe and armchair, a Corbusier chair, a flatscreen television, and a Majorelle blue panel with graphic art and an enclosed wood-burning fire for those cooler months and evenings. The state-of-the-art, beige and brown kitchen is fully equipped with all the latest appliances which you will need to cater for your holiday. There are two adjacent six-seater dining sets, and a breakfast bar with stools, perfect for a family breakfast. If you want to work on holiday, there is an office corner with a desk and chair. The first of the six well-appointed bedrooms can be found on the ground floor. The Master bedroom has a large double bed and a big ensuite bathroom with a Jacuzzi bath. The second bedroom has a double bed with a balcony, and there is a separate shower room.
Take the stairs to the upper floor, where there are two bedrooms, both with double beds, sharing a balcony with magnificent mountain views, and a separate shower room. The lower level is home to a bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed for one guest, a second bedroom with a double bed, and a shared shower room. There is a games room with a sofa bed for two guests, a satellite TV with Netflix, a DVD player, a billiard and ping-pong table, and a PlayStation to keep everyone occupied. Keep fit in the gym, and there’s laundry for a holiday wash.
Step onto the tiled terrace and be wowed by the uninterrupted sea views. A long, ninety square metre, ladder entry, the infinity swimming pool takes centre stage. The pool is surrounded by inviting sun loungers with shady parasols, a hammock, and a swing seat. The soft seating spot is perfectly positioned to capture those mesmerising sea views. Children can amuse themselves in the dedicated playground, the gorgeous grounds and gardens, and shoot a few hoops on the basketball court. As dusk falls take a stool at the outdoor bar, and enjoy a sundowner or two, before dining alfresco under the purpose-built pergola, with dishes specially prepared in the summer kitchen, and grilled on the barbeque.

Villa Oinos is nestled in the heart of nature, surrounded by ancient vineyards and olive groves, overlooking the azure waters of the Aegean Sea, yet only minutes away from the holiday hot spot of Platanias, on the north coast of the Greek island of Crete. The villa is twenty-two kilometres from Chania International Airport, a half-hour journey through the Cretan countryside to your holiday home from home. Provisions for your holiday and the nearest restaurants are a few steps from Villa Oinos, whilst the beach is but five hundred metres from the sandy shores of Platanias.
The soft sandy beaches of nearby Gerani, Agioi Apostoli, and Agia Marina, have easy shallow entry into the calm Aegean Sea, organised sunbeds with shady brollies, lined with family-friendly cafes and tavernas and water sports, most notably wind and kitesurfing. Platanias is full of fabulous souvenir shops and supermarkets, romantic seafront restaurants, bars, beaches, and clubs that turn day into night for some fun after dark. The medieval town of Chania is a fifteen minutes drive from the villa. Stroll down to the old Venetian port and harbour, see them haul in the catch of the day, visit the Maritime and Archeological Museums, seek solace in the Greek Orthodox Church of Agios Nikolaos, bargaining in the local market, then dine off freshly caught seafood by the sea shore. For those who love walking, explore the three hundred caves the island hides, hike over hillsides, streams, and rocky ravines to discover watermills and ruins, or take a stroll around the nearby Botanical Gardens and the water springs of Lake Agia.
The ancient town and port of Heraklion is a two-hour drive away, take a tour around the Palace of Knossos, visit the Heraklion Archaeological Museum, walk the Venetian walls, meander through the old quarter, and shop for souvenirs, before enjoying an ouzo like a local. Go further afield to Vai, Crete’s easternmost tip, where you will find lush forests and a unique date palm. Explore Psychro Cave, reputedly the birthplace of Zeus, and rock climb Mount Ida to find the Ideon Cave. Sitia Geopark is three hundred and fifty square kilometres of the island’s diverse ecosystem, where you can trek through gorges, bathe on beaches, walk the wetlands, and bird watching. Hike the Richtis Gorge, stroll through streams to reach the twenty-metre waterfall, where you can cool off in the inviting pool.
All aboard for a day at sea, where you can sunbathe, snorkel, and scuba dive underwater ruins. Take the ferry to the intriguing island of Spinalonga, once a former leper colony and home to a Venetian fortress, and now an open-air museum. No visit to Crete is complete without a trip to Agios Nikolaos, a harbour town that uniquely houses a lake in its centre, with an Archaeological Museum of Minoan treasures, and tavernas, shops, bars, and restaurants, in which to sit and watch the local life go by. If you’ve done all that, you’ve earned yourself a wine tour, where you can sample the local harvest, and take a bottle or two home with you.
