Rent Bastide Diane France
Holiday Home Rental Description
On the edge of Saint-Rémy, this high-end abode is stylish and contemporary whilst also exuding a charming Provençal ambience. The heated swimming pool and terraces are idyllic spots to while away your time whilst you are in a fine location for exploring Les Alpilles and beyond.
Bastide Diane (and neighbouring Bastide Paul) have been created by one of our experienced owners to add to their portfolio of beautiful houses in Provence. Designed with refined travellers in mind, guests can expect elegant interiors, comfort and great attention to detail across every room.
Hosting up to 6 guests, walk up the steps to the entrance and admire the open-plan living space with a fully-equipped kitchen and dining area. One set of French doors leads to a covered terrace for breakfast or shady lunches by the lavender whilst another opens to an outdoor lounge overlooking the century-old trees and pool below.
There are three prettily decorated bedrooms with king-size doubles (all of which can be split into twins) with en suite bathrooms featuring bathrobes and lovely products. Guests also benefit from air-conditioning throughout the house.
Following the stairs down to the garden level, the heated swimming pool is surrounded by a small lawn, olive trees and an attractive terrace leading to the pool house with its summer kitchen and Green Egg barbecue, another spot for al-fresco feasts with family or friends. The garden features herbs and roses alongside other colours and scents of Provence.
What’s more, the welcoming owners take pride in the à la carte menu of services they can help arrange from breakfast/brunch delivery and private cooks to bike hire, sport coaches as well as massages and treatments. The heart of historic Saint-Rémy is around 2km away with its pavement cafes, bistros, art galleries and studios – it’s a joy to potter around the bustling town’s cobbled lanes. Don’t miss the Wednesday morning market which attracts visitors from across the region – bring home local delicacies such as honey, cheese, olive oil, wine, charcuterie and all sorts of seasonal fruit and vegetables.
Visit some of Les Alpilles’ picture-postcard villages including Eygalières, Maussane-les-Alpilles and Les Baux-de-Provence and make the most of the beautiful landscapes as you walk, hike, cycle or horse ride through olive groves, woodland, limestone peaks and idyllic valleys.
A little further afield, discover the art of Arles, the Roman remains of Nîmes, the antiques of L’Isle-sur-la-Sorgue and the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Avignon. It’s also worth venturing to the Luberon, another captivating part of Provence so loved for its perched villages, vineyards, orchards and yet more incredible scenery.

Bastide Diane is in a fantastic location in Provence, just under 2km south-east of Saint-Rémy. It is semi-detached to Bastide Paul which is similar in terms of style. The historic city of Avignon is 26km by car whilst it’s TGV train station is 23km away with arrivals from Paris or Lille. If flying, you can arrive into the airports near Avignon, Nîmes or Marseille, all within an hour’s drive. The houses are on the edge of the artistic town in a residential area with a semi-rural ambience thanks to its tree-lined lanes and countryside landscapes a few steps away. Saint-Rémy is around a 5-minute drive away whilst the most energetic could walk into town within half an hour (there are even pavements most of the way, depending which route you take).
Saint-Rémy is one of Provence’s most loved towns, famous for its artistic heritage – you can follow the Van Gogh trail ending at Monastery Saint-Paul de Mausole where the Dutch artist lived towards the end of his life. Head to the Wednesday morning market where stalls fill the winding lanes showcasing delicious local produce like honey, cheese, charcuterie, olive oil, lavender, wine and other seasonal delights alongside crafts etc. If staying in the summer, look out for the Creator’s Market every Tuesday evening and art markets on selected Sundays.
This is a great base for exploring Les Alpilles. Les Baux-de-Provence (10km) is classified as one of France’s ‘Plus Beaux Villages’ with its medieval centre and historic château whilst Maussane-les-Alpilles is a delightful place to stop off for lunch, a pretty village surrounded by olive groves (Maussane and Mouriès produce some of France’s finest extra virgin olive oil). Eygalières (11km) is another picture-perfect village with charming lanes, excellent restaurants and amazing views.
Golf lovers have a choice of courses across the region, including Domaine de Manville (12km), and there are ample opportunities for walking, hiking, cycling, mountain biking as well as horse-riding and rock-climbing across the beautiful scenery of Les Alpilles. Wine-tasting is also possible at local vineyards or venture a little further afield towards the wineries of the Luberon or Rhône valley.
Beyond Les Alpilles, spend the day in the historic city of Avignon (26km) with its UNESCO World Heritage sites, explore the Roman remains of Nîmes (47km) or visit the art galleries and historic sites of Arles (28km), the gateway to the Camargue. The idyllic landscapes of the Luberon are also within easy reach – iconic villages such as Bonnieux, Gordes and Ménerbes are all within an hour by car.
