With its stunning views of the Mediterranean, this villa by the seafront enjoys a prime location near Binibeca, a short stroll from restaurants and an idyllic sandy beach and 2.5km from the charm of Binibeca Vell’s iconic white-washed village. Only a road separates Villa Valenta from rocky coastline and sea. Wander along the road to a little supermarket and a small handful of restaurants within 750m. Just a little further, come across a path leading down to a gorgeous sandy bay with turquoise coloured water and summer sun loungers to rent, only around a 15 to 20-minute walk from Villa Valenta. Get lost in the warren of narrow lanes in Binibeca Vell, a tiny white-washed village with houses in built in traditional Menorcan style. It feels like a step back in time yet the village dates back to the 1970s when a Spanish architect created this cluster of pretty houses to represent a traditional Mediterranean coastal village. Wander there early in the morning before the day trippers arrive to truly soak up the charming ambience, then admire the beautiful views from the port below. Sea lovers look out for little rocky calas along this part of the coastline, ideal for snorkelling or watch on as confident swimmers jump from the rocks. Indeed, Binibeca is loved for its scuba-diving opportunities and the Binibeca Diving Centre is only 1km away (boat tours and kayak rental can also be arranged here). Meanwhile, the Cami de Cavalls island trail is a must for keen walkers. In this area the route leads west towards Binissafuller and beyond or east to Punta Prima, mainly following routes through a residential area. The hiking path then becomes wilder along the coast towards Alcafar and continues to Mahon, the island’s capital. Indeed, Binibeca is a great base for exploring south-eastern Menorca. Drive up to the characterful village of Sant Lluis with its 18th century mill, Molí de Dalt (now home to a ethnology museum). Close to the village is Bodegas Binifadet, the oldest winery in Menorca where guided tours and tastings can be arranged or book a table at the winery’s highly regarded restaurant for an authentic Menorcan gastronomic experience.
