The main living space is an absolute stunner with high-class, modern furnishings, fantastic use of wood and some quirky handpicked accessories. This cool, elegant, contemporary interior invites you in. At one end of the room, you will discover a bar, wine-cooling fridge and little tables perfect for card games or a cup of coffee. Plush sofas and chairs come next, perfectly placed to look out to the garden and sea, followed by a giant sofa arrangement where you can snuggle up to watch a movie on the enormous wall-mounted smart television. Netflix, Disney+ and Hulu are all provided. Villa Lido comes with top-of-the-range technology, including a brilliant indoor and outdoor Sonos sound system so that you can listen to your favourite soundtracks everywhere. Should you need to catch up with some work, there is a printer, scanner and fax. The kitchen is a height of contemporary cool with fabulous cabinetry, sublime worktops and a sociable island. The five-bedroom suites are heavenly havens where you will enjoy the sleep of kings on exquisite, highest-quality linens on lavish kingsize beds. They all enjoy quiet inverter air-conditioning, Stearns and Foster quality mattresses, Dr OzCasper pillows, black-out curtains, smartphone and smartwatch charging stands, personal safes, smart televisions and immaculate, sleek ensuite bathrooms with hairdryers and luxury toiletries. Three bedrooms are on the upper floor: the Bob Marley Suite with its large sea view terrace and spa bathroom with a sea view, the Third World Suite with its large furnished sea view terrace and spa bathroom and Jimmy Cliff, which boasts a private ocean view verandah and ensuite spa bathroom. On the lower level, you will discover the Toots & the Maytals suite with a spa ensuite and access to the terrace, sea and pool and the Ska suite with two queen-size beds that can convert to a kingsize. Outside, the glorious swimming pool and lawned gardens nudge the beautiful white sandy beach of Old Fort Bay. The fine sands are only five steps down from the garden. The poolside pavilion is the perfect spot for long, lazy lunches with welcome shade from the sun. There are sun loungers on the deck and on the baja ledge of the pool should you want to dip your toes and fingers in the water. Additionally, there are brightly coloured bean bags and chairs on the lawn that invite relaxation. In the evenings, you can dine alfresco, mesmerised by the sunsets, toast marshmallows on the fire pit or turn the lights on and head to the tennis and pickleball courts to practice your shots.

Villa Lido is a beachside villa on Old Fort Bay, close to Ocho Rios. It is a fabulous, enviable location.  

Ocho Rios enjoys stunning scenery, renowned attractions, world-class resorts, vast shopping options and a fantastic dining scene. The locals call it ‘the garden parish’ as abundance awaits in the forms of greenery, flavours and variety. You will discover stunning beaches, the roar of waterfalls flowing into the Caribbean Sea and lush forests. Its highlights include the popular Dunn’s River Falls, Mystic Mountain Rainforest, Margaritaville, the Goldeneye Estate of James Bond fame, its craft market and Port Maria with its national heritage sites. Ocho Rios means eight rivers, though there are actually only four rivers in the area: Cave River, Roaring River, Turtle River and Dunns River.  

Though you may be tempted to relax and rejuvenate at Villa Lido, Jamaica is an extraordinarily beautiful island where you can discover natural beauty, history and heritage. Its mountain range rises to almost seven thousand feet, there are incredible rivers that flow and tumble through verdant valleys, and some of the world’s most prized coffee is grown. You can book a four-wheel drive tour to discover this amazing landscape, drift down the Martha Brae on a bamboo raft, travel up the Black River to observe crocodiles made famous in the James Bond film Live and Let Die, take a dip in the bracing waters of YS Falls or climb the terraced waterfall at Dunn’s River Falls. Cascading water drops a dramatic six hundred feet within tropical greenery at the falls. You can join an organised climb up the limestone tiers and follow this with a swim at the beach below. Dunn’s River Falls is one of Jamaica’s national treasures. Deep sea sport fishing is also very popular, hunting for tuna, marlin and swordfish. Swimming with dolphins goes down a treat, and dune buggy safaris head off in the wilderness to explore some of Jamaica’s more remote areas.  

At Dolphin Cove, you can swim with dolphins, interact with stingrays or visit a shark show. This natural cove is surrounded by five acres of lush rainforest. It is such a wonderful experience to swim with the dolphins in the natural Caribbean Sea plus enjoy the company of different fish, rays and other forms of sea life. When not swimming, you can stroll through the estate taking the Jungle Trail, where you will notice different wild animals, plants and trees.  

You can tour one hundred acres of rainforest in the mountains, seven hundred foot above sea level at Mystic Mountain. Here, you can experience the SkyExplorer, Bobsled Ride, Canopy Zipline and Mystic Waterslide. The Bobsled Ride was inspired by the famous Jamaican bobsled Olympic team and is the park’s signature attraction. You will be strapped into a custom-designed sled and whooshed down a one thousand-metre-long track installed into the side of the mountain. Amazing! 

Chukka Caribbean Adventures take you through the jungle rainforest on ziplines, on a catamaran cruise and to Dunn’s River Falls. There are also horseback ride and swim sessions, river tubing, visits to mysterious limestone caves, tours of Bob Marley, the King of Reggae’s home and food and rum tours.  

Golf fans will be very happy. There are many excellent courses, including the excellent course at Sandals Resort. Its rolling fairways enjoy sweeping views of the sea and mountains. This magnificent 18-hole course rises seven hundred feet above sea level in the lush hills of Ocho Rios with a practice range, putting and chipping greens, shop and restaurant.
