Discover Tobago: Green, Serene, and Unspoilt
Welcome to Tobago, a hidden gem nestled in the southern Caribbean, just 11 degrees north of the equator. As one of the most southerly Caribbean islands, Tobago enjoys a prime location outside the hurricane belt, offering consistent, sun-kissed weather year-round. With daytime temperatures hovering between 29°C and 32°C, the island is bathed in warmth, tempered by refreshing northeast trade winds. At Villa Buccoo, our villa’s design not only captures breathtaking views but also embraces these gentle breezes, ensuring a comfortable and serene stay.
Tobago’s charm lies in its simplicity, with two distinct seasons: the Dry Season (December to May) and the Rainy Season (June to November). Even during the wetter months, brief warm showers are followed by radiant sunshine, maintaining the island’s lush, green paradise.
Location and Accessibility
Villa Buccoo is perched on the Caribbean coast of this petite island, which measures just 26 miles by 8 miles. Overlooking the secluded Arnos Vale Bay, the villa is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive from both the airport and the capital, Scarborough. This prime location allows easy access to some of Tobago’s most renowned attractions, including the Main Ridge Forest Reserve, the oldest tropical rainforest in the Western Hemisphere, and Speyside Reef, home to the world’s largest single brain coral. Tobago’s crystal-clear waters offer some of the best diving and snorkeling experiences in the Caribbean, while its pristine beaches provide the perfect backdrop for sunbathing or witnessing the majestic Giant Leatherback Turtles nesting.
Practical Information
The local currency is the Trinidad and Tobago dollar (TTD), and while US dollars are accepted at some establishments, we recommend exchanging your currency at local banks for the best rates. Most places accept Visa and Mastercard, though American Express is less common. ATMs are readily available across the island for cash withdrawals.
Tobago operates on 110V electricity. European visitors will need a two-pin American-style adapter, and some appliances may also require a transformer. While phone chargers and cameras will work with just the adapter, note that hair straighteners might not.
Sustainability at Villa Buccoo
Though Tobago experiences a rainy season, water is a precious resource. Villa Buccoo is equipped with high-volume water storage to ensure our guests have everything they need without compromising the island’s natural resources.
Travel Made Easy
Reaching Tobago is simple, thanks to its International Airport. Direct flights are available from the UK via Virgin Atlantic and British Airways, and from North America with American Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Air Canada.
