Rent Gumruk Evi Turkey
Holiday Home Rental Description
Stay in a slice of history when you holiday in the unutterably charming Gumruk Evi, in the heart of Kalkan old town, on Turkey’s Turquoise Coast. This unique property was once part of the 1854 Kalkan Customs House, a landmark building with sweeping panoramic views overlooking the harbour, the islands, and beyond. Originally constructed as a pension and pub, the villa has been exceptionally refurbished over three spacious floors to offer all the mod cons, including complimentary air conditioning, Wi-Fi, and a rooftop plunge pool. Gumruk Evi boasts three ensuite bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to six guests, ideal for a family holiday or a group of friends sharing. The exterior is classic Ottoman-style architecture, with wooden shutters and French doors that open out onto sea-view terraces and balconies. The interiors are divine, a clever combination of rustic charm with exquisite taste, a scattering of traditional authentic artefacts, and decorated in a calming colour palette of neutral earth tones and cool blues.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, with a light and airy open plan living space, with doors that give access to a stunning sea view terrace. The seating area has a club-style brown leather sofa, matching armchairs and a pouffe around a coffee table, a flat-screen satellite television, and a wood-burning fire for those cooler months and evenings. A modern monochrome kitchen is fully equipped with all the appliances you will need to cater for your holiday, including that must-have water cooler moment. The adjacent country-style, six-seater dining set is perfect for indoor entertaining. Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find two beautifully dressed bedrooms. One bedroom has a double bed, bedside tables, wardrobes, a new ensuite marble bathroom with a walk-in shower, hand basin, WC, and a sea view balcony. The second bedroom has the same with twin beds. On the upper floor is the Master Suite, with a double bed, an ensuite shower room, and a sea-view balcony furnished with a patio set just for two.
Gumruk Evi has the most delightful outside space, with a harbour view paved terrace that is home to a sizeable plunge pool. Sun loungers, swing chairs, and cushioned soft seating are hot spots for relaxing, catching up with this summer’s best-seller, and watching the yachts sail by. As dusk falls, meet for cocktails on the terrace, and enjoy dining under the twinkling stars at the alfresco seating set, with dishes freshly grilled on the barbecue.
