A charming stone pathway leads up to the entrance of Villa Heron Bay which is located in the beautiful Queens Fort enclave in the Parish of Saint James, where palm trees and other indigenous trees make up the backdrop. The villa is surrounded by gorgeous greenery and has electronic gates open up to a quaint courtyard complete with a large tree at the front.
You won’t have to travel far if you want to dip your toes into glistening waters. Outside, the sizeable private pool comes equipped with sun loungers and allows you to swim while taking in the glorious views provided by the surrounding nature. Once you’ve had a few refreshing laps, head to the sheltered veranda that sits poolside and comes complete with a small seating area and table. The garden is flourishing with nature, from glorious green plants and trees to a small pond located beside the hedges.
The living area is wonderfully enhanced by white walls and floors as well as housing a flat screen television, wall art and doors that open up to the garden. You can really appreciate an ‘in and out’ living style at this home. An additional covered veranda is accessible from the living room and contains a stunning marble coffee table, small dining area and comfy seats. There is also an outdoor kitchen top where you can prepare and hold snacks & drinks on.
An elegant dining area makes for special dinner parties with friends & family and opens up to the garden. Guests will adore dining to sounds of birds gently chirping in the background.
All bedrooms are spacious yet cosy with en-suites offering optimal privacy. There is also a two-bedroom, two-bathroom cottage located on the grounds, perfect for two families or friendship groups sharing.Seacat is a local and friendly family run restaurant. The charming and rustic venue boasts a delectable menu consisting of yellowfin tuna, blackened Mahi Mahi, lobster and shrimp. Guests can also choose to eat some familiar fish & chips and crispy onion rings. You will be taken away by how well the fresh seafood is cooked and prepared. And let’s not forget about dessert – the key lime pie is particularly popular here! Seacat possesses a lively atmosphere, benefits from an authentic Bajan menu and serves some very tantalising rum punch. The venue opens from 6.30 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. daily, except for Sundays when it’s closed.
Garrison Savannah is a 35-minute drive away from Villa Heron Bay and is a popular racecourse on the island. If you’re feeling lucky, you never know, you may bet on a winning horse! Situated beside The Barbados Museum & Historical Society, the course is a go-to for locals and tourists alike who wish to get caught up in the excitement of the races.
Cushions are offered for the ultimate comfort during the races and snacks & drinks are available to be purchased from the stalls (don’t miss the Bajan fishcakes). If you’re looking for a beach or Watersports activity alternative, a day at the races will be a day well spent. Just a 12-minute stroll away from Garrison Savannah lies Radisson beach.
