Holiday Home Rental Description
In the mystical village of Zennor, this Grade II listed cottage is full of rustic charm, and couldn’t be set in more breathtaking scenery. The interiors have a homely, cosy feel, with mixed fabrics, antique furniture and colourful rugs characterising the space. Pops of pink punctuate the house – from the front door that matches the hydrangeas, to the delightfully kitsch Aga, which keeps the kitchen warm and toasty in the cooler months. The bedrooms are cosy and comfortable, with their windows like pictures, framing the view of the meadows and Atlantic beyond. On sunny days, relax in the garden or take a walk down the South West Coast path that runs past the house, leading you through sweeping scenery.
Zennor is an ancient granite village steeped in history, famed for its Mediaeval church of St. Senara, where the Cornish folk tale about the Mermaid of Zennor was born. The cottage is half a mile from the coast, or you can drive ten minutes into St. Ives, where you’ll find glorious sandy beaches, award winning restaurants, and the Tate gallery. A 700-year-old pub is a two-minute walk from the cottage, where you can enjoy traditional Cornish ale by an open log fire. Describing Zennor in 1916, D.H Lawrence said, ‘It is the best place I have been in, I think.’ In just over a century, little has changed – this is the kind of place that will leave an impression on you for years to come.
