Bridgetown is an Istagram-worthy scene of waterfront cafes, Parliament Square, bridges, a boardwalk running along the river and across the water, bustling colonial streets with pastel coloured malls and warehouses and fruit carts and souvenir trinkets. Its an interesting eclectic mix. The streetscape has barely changed and streets have their original names such as Liverpool, Lancaster and Swan. With its UNESCO World Heritage status, it is a place not to miss.
Barbados has some incredible beaches, mostly calm on the upmarket west coast but thrilling with rollers on the east. The turquoise waters are stunning and the marine life interesting and vibrant. Some of the best beaches are Mullins Beach which you can visit from Royal Westmoreland on a shuttle service, Gibbes Beach and Paynes Bay on the west coast, Carlisle Bay and Accra Beach in the south, Silver Sands and Crane Beach in the south-east and Bathsheba in the east.
Rum has been produced in Barbados for over 350 years. Barbados rum is recognised as one of the strongest in the world! You can visit a rum distillery during your trip to taste and buy some.
