Villa Beach View is located on the west side of Barbados, near to Holetown, formerly known as Jamestown, and just thirty kilometres from Grantley Adams International Airport. The area was once called the Gold Coast of Barbados, after its many golden sandy beaches, but it has recently been upgraded and is now often referred to as the Platinum Coast, as it is home to glitzy beachfront mansions with private beaches, and desirable luxury resorts. Jamestown was the home to the very first British settlers in 1625, sent out under the authority of King James to discover new lands. It has its own parish church, and the last of the island’s operational sugar factories called Portvale, and is sometimes called tongue-in-cheek Little England. The location is ideal for family and friends’ holidays with so much to see and do, as well as the perfect place for the most romantic honeymoon. Holetown is home to a whole host of famous eateries, lively bars, exclusive nightclubs, and designer shops galore, and of course those incredible shimmering white sand beautiful beaches.
If you fancy exploring further afield nothing is too far away as the island of Barbados is just thirty two kilometres north to south, and twenty five kilometres east to west. Car hire can be arranged by the villa’s concierge, or there’s many private and group tours to see the hot spots. Highly recommended is a visit to St Nicholas Abbey, where you can walk around the Great House, a Jacobean style mansion, built in 1658 with Tudor, Elizabethan, Renaissance, Flemish, Dutch and French influences from the last three hundred and fifty years. The Abbey also has its own distillery, reputed to be the birthplace of Barbados rum, well worth a tipple. No visit to the Abbey would be complete without a trip on the recently completed Heritage Railway, a restored Victorian locomotive. The railway takes you on a journey through the plantation, past the house, around the lake, through mahogany woodlands, then leaves you at Cherry Top Hill where you can admire the vista of the island’s rugged coastline.
For the more active there’s a number of PGA golf courses scattered across the island, most notably the nearby Sandy Lane, and the very well-reputed Royal Westmoreland. A favourite jaunt is a Catamaran sea-fishing trip with live bait, and the added attraction of eating your catch-of-the-day for supper. Days out at sea, swimming, snorkelling or scuba diving are a must-do activity. Charter your own yacht or join a tour with experienced instructors and guides.Adult-only distillery tours of the many rum producers prove very popular, especially to the world-famous Mount Gay, for a tasting or two. The local Limegrove Lifestyle Centre, is a mecca to shopping, housing over a hundred of the world’s best known and most desirable fashion brands.. If you need a sit down after all that shopping take a seat in the Limegrove Cinema with table service and Dolby surround sound.
