Lostwithiel Groom’s House holds a fantastic location set in the very heart of the wonderful private Lostwithiel Manor Estate, surrounded by immaculate gardens and fantastic walking trails. Situated in central Cornwall, it is within easy reach of both coasts and therefore makes an excellent base for those wishing to explore all that Cornwall has to offer. While guests will enjoy a relaxing countryside escape, the house is just four miles from the town of Lostwithiel where a selection of helpful amenities can be found.
One of two beautifully restored buildings in the Stable Yard, the charming cottage makes the perfect base for a small family, with three well-appointed bedrooms accommodating up to six guests. The living accommodation is open-plan and comprises of a fully-equipped kitchen, dining area and lounge which features a beautiful window seat. With no Wi-Fi, the Groom’s House makes the perfect bolthole for those in search of a digital detox so be sure to bring a good book with you!
Outside, guests will enjoy making use of the Weber barbecue and dining al fresco on the terrace in the Summer months. Guests of the Groom’s House also have access to the Estate’s impressive grounds with endless walks on the estate through the deer park, around the lake and gardens. The Estate even features a tennis court, the perfect place to enjoy some healthy competition! Lostwithiel Groom’s House is situated in central Cornwall, less than a 20-minute car journey from the town of Lostwithiel itself where a selection of helpful amenities, including shops, pubs and restaurants, can be found. Just 20-minutes in the other direction is the larger market town of Liskeard where further amenities can be found.
Holding such a brilliant position within Cornwall, there is plenty to see, do and explore in the surrounding area. The historic town of Bodmin is less than a 30-minute car journey away and is home to the famous Bodmin Jail and the Bodmin & Wenford Heritage Railway, both excellent family-friendly attractions. The iconic Eden Project is less than 30-minutes away while The Lost Gardens of Heligan are less than 50-minutes away. Those travelling with teenagers must visit Adrenalin Quarry, with an inflatable aqua park, zip wires and a giant clifftop swing it provides hours of entertainment and is less than 30-minutes away.
For the keen surfers or beach bums, both coastlines are within easy reaching distance of the house. To the South, the pretty village and harbour of Polperro is just 30-minutes away, while the stunning National Trust owned Lantic Bay beach is also less than 35-minutes away. To the North, surfers favourite Newquay is less than a 50-minute drive while hugely popular Padstow is less than an hour away. The traditional fishing village of Port Isaac, best known for being the setting off the popular TV series Doc Martin, is also less than an hour away.
