Villa Doride Croatia
Holiday Home Rental Description
The beautiful Villa Doride is located in glorious countryside in the sleepy village of Makose with sensational views across the countryside and out to sea. Makose is roughly 4 miles east of the fabulous medieval town of Dubrovnik, 3.7 miles from the Ploce Gate and 4.1miles from the Pile Gate of the Old Town. It is a fabulous setting where you can relax and look out to the island of Lokrum. A short drive takes you to the sensational beaches of the Dubrovnik Riviera.
Villa Doride enjoys its prestigious, calm setting on the mountainside and offers fabulous living accommodation and glorious outside space. The villa boasts six bedrooms that can sleep ten guests though there is also a sofa bed that you can use.
The main living space is contemporary, with a sumptuous corner sofa adorned with pretty scatter cushions. This wonderful well-equipped modern kitchen will please the chefs in your group and indoor dining. It is drowned in natural light with two sets of doors opening onto the terrace and onto a balcony.
There are six bedrooms in total, all beautiful calm spaces with trendy colours on the walls and wonderful furnishings. Two of the bedrooms enjoy kingsize beds, two are singles, another enjoys bunk beds with a double bed on the bottom and a single on the top plus there is a twin room. You will find some lovely artwork on the walls of the villa, decorating the neutral walls. The bedrooms share four bathrooms.
Guests staying at Villa Doride will want to spend most of their time outside, enjoying the wonderful facilities, the splendid views and the natural environment. The outdoor spaces are on different levels. When leaving the living space, you will immediately come to the lovely covered alfresco dining area, where you can enjoy feasts cooked on the villa’s built-in barbecue. It is an excellent space with a bar area. The terrace continues to the swimming pool and sun deck. There are plenty of loungers and parasols for shade if the sun is too much. The pool is wonderful, and the scene, no doubt, is of much family fun. Below the pool is the garden with its lawns, trees and outdoor furniture where you can relax and enjoy the stunning panorama in front of you.
The location of Villa Doride gives you the best of both worlds. The villa and its grounds are secluded, peaceful and in a very natural, scenic location yet you are within 4 miles of Dubrovnik and some brilliant beaches. St Jakov Beach is 3 miles away, Banje Beach 3.6 miles, the wonderful Eastwest Beach Club is 3.6 miles and Lokrum Island is 3.7 miles away.
You can enter the gates of Dubrovnik’s Old Town in approximately 4 miles and visit the Museum of Modern Art, Dubrovnik in 3.5 miles.
There are many small, peaceful villages to explore in the countryside including Brgat Donji, Gornji Brgat, Celopeci and Buici and by the sea you can visit Plat, Srebreno and Mlini. Plat is a lovely seaside hamlet with a promenade that stretches along the pebbly beach. It is perfect for a quiet swim. Mlini is a small, idyllic fishing village located half way between Cavtat and Dubrovnik with a charming harbour, a bakery, supermarket, a lovely pebble and sand beach, cafes and restaurants and the most stunning sunsets. Mlini gets its name from the numerous fresh water wellsprings that used to power the local flour mills in the past. From Mlini, visitors can take a water ferry to visit Dubrovnik Old Town. You can also visit Lokrum where some of Game of Thrones was filmed and enjoy a relaxing, peaceful day with a delicious picnic or a visit to the popular saltwater swimming spot named the ‘Dead Sea’. The gardens are absolutely beautiful.
Cavtat is within easy reach of the villa and only 22km from the border of the stunning Montenegro. It is very pretty, hemmed in by mountains and lush swathes of pine and cypress forest and is rich in cultural history. It boasts beautiful beaches, crystal clear waters, many ancient necropolises dotted around and a wonderful promenade lined with fishing boats and artisan shops. There are several museums and galleries. You will find some lovely restaurants in Cavtat where you can sample the delicious local cuisine.
Dubrovnik Old Town is incredibly beautiful. With its breathtaking natural beauty, rich historical heritage and fantastic array of restaurants, cafes, bars and unique shops, it is extremely popular. Visitors soak up the romantic atmosphere walking along the limestone Stradun, the main thoroughfare and its narrow streets, admire the countless monuments, taste the delicious city’s rich gastronomic delights and be left breathless with its harmonious beauty. You can taste signature dishes such as rozata, kotonjata or black risotto along with local wines. If you are lucky you will get a table by the harbour. During the summer visitors can enjoy the Dubrovnik Summer Festival with music, theatre and dance performances.
Another excursion that is an absolute must when staying at Villa Doride is a boat trip to the Elaphiti islands. They are stunningly beautiful with caves, sandy idyllic beaches and incredible charm.
