The owner’s beloved home, this Napoleon III styled manoir is a special place to stay with its gorgeous interiors, heated swimming pool and glorious gardens. Admire designer furnishings, both classic and contemporary art as well as fabric and silk wallpapers from the renowned French designer Pierre Frey. Fashion and art books can be found in the main living room’s library or simply relax in the petit salon with French windows opening out to the verdant gardens. A traditional French kitchen is the perfect spot for feasts with loved ones, perhaps cooked over the open fire or enjoyed al-fresco on the picturesque terrace.
In the manoir, seven pretty bedrooms sleeping 15 guests are scattered across the top two floors whilst an annexe features an eighth bedroom and a sofa-bed, meaning up to 19 people can stay here. Outside, across the 12 acres of enclosed parkland, there is ample space for fishing by the lake, picnics beneath the shady trees or summer swimming in the pool that can be heated on request.
In such an idyllic setting on the water’s edge, it will be hard to leave your tranquil abode. Yet stroll or cycle down the country road and within a couple of minutes you will reach the heart of a small village with a boulangerie, pharmacy and weekly market. There’s also a restaurant-bar within walking distance as well as tennis, basketball and football.
Head out in your car and there is so much to explore across the Cher and Indre region from the picturesque market town of Issoudun close by to historic riverside gems such as Châteauroux and Vierzon. Visit the vineyards of Reuilly and Quincy and don’t miss the incredible town of Bourges, home to the stunning Palais Jacques-Coeur and UNESCO listed cathedral.
Then there’s the wineries of the Loire valley such as Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé as well as world-famous châteaux – Château de Chenonceau and Château Royal d’Amboise are just a 90-minute drive away. Then return to the serene surroundings of your classic and stylish manoir, a truly beautiful place for an authentic holiday in France.   In the historic region of Berry, close to the border of the Cher and Indre departments in central France, Manoir Arnon enjoys a beautiful setting overlooking a lake fed by the Arnon river and is within walking distance to a traditional village with a boulangerie and restaurant-bar.
Walk down the country road and the heart of the village is less than 500m away for your morning pastries and fresh bread whilst the village is also home to a pharmacy, doctors, tennis court, basketball and football pitch, as well as a weekly market on a Wednesday morning. With its lakeside setting, there are ample fishing opportunities in wonderful natural surroundings.
Further amenities including supermarkets can be found in Châteauneuf-sur-Cher (14km) and Issoudun (17km), both towns with bustling markets on a Saturday morning. Historic Issoudun has a fascinating heritage and is in a picturesque setting on the Théols river. Look out for some of its note-worthy restaurants and admire the views from the top of the 12th century Tour Blanche, apparently built on the request of Richard the Lionheart. Take a stroll through the picruesque Parc François Mitterrand on the river’s edge. There is also canoeing along the river and horse-riding within a short drive of the town.  
Furthermore, if arriving by train, there are fast services (under 2 hrs) from Paris D’Austerlitz to Gare D’Issoudun, only 17km away.
Wine-lovers can visit a variety of vineyards around Reuilly and Quincy, around half an hour away, or a little further afield near Pouilly Fumé, Sancerre and this part of the Loire valley, around an hour by car. Not forgetting the Loire’s famous châteaux including Château de Chambord, Château de Chenonceau and Château Royal d’Amboise, all around a 90-minute drive away.
Bourges (35km) is a must-see with its incredible cathedral, a listed UNESCO World Heritage site, and the impressive 15th century Palais Jacques-Coeur. The medieval quarter is a joy to explore with its half timbered houses and there are many other historic gems across the town. You can also enjoy the town’s shops, charming restaurants, bars and various markets showcasing the best regional produce.
On the Indre river, Châteauroux, (42km) is known for its interesting heritage, museums and picturesque gardens whilst the most active of guests can explore its vast forests by foot or bike. Vierzon (42km) also enjoys a wonderful waterside setting on the banks of both the Cher and Yèvre rivers as well as the Berry canal. The main square hosts a festival in July and August with outdoor concerts and cinema showings, the Estivales du Canal.
