Mykonos is a sun-soaked island in the Aegean Sea. It’s famous for its classic Greek architecture, welcoming atmosphere and white sandy beaches. The neighbouring islands of Delos – with a UNESCO archaeological site – and Rhenia with pristine coves and snorkelling spots are close by and can be accessed via boat from Mykonos’s main harbour.
From Villa Cornflower, you’re within walking distance of shops and tavernas and Mykonos Town is a short 15-minute drive. In Mykonos Town, you can spend your afternoons browsing the boutique shops for souvenirs or immerse yourself in the island’s long and vibrant history and visit one of the churches, chapels or museums. Tourliani Monastery, just off the main square, is a popular landmark.Near to Mykonos Town, and 3.5km from the villa, are the Mykonos Windmills. This cluster of 16th-century buildings is situated southwest of Mykonos Town in Hora. They’re impressive with their snow-white magnificence and idyllic spot looking out towards the sea. You could also visit Little Venice – a collection of picturesque 18th-century homes on the shoreline.In Mykonos, there are plenty of sandy beaches to relax on. Psarou Beach is 400 metres away from the villa with crystal-clear calm waters for swimming. There’s also Elia – a favourite beach with families because of its calm water and access to facilities – Platys Gialos and Kalafatis which are renowned for water sports such as sea kayaking, and Agios Ioannis, a favoured spot for windsurfing.Mykonos also attracts divers of any level. You can swim or dive into the caverns of Tragonisi, in reefs or shipwrecks for the more experienced.
