Villa Marine fuses classic Greek architecture with contemporary furnishings. Think rustic stone walls, quaint blue shutters, whitewashed walls and soft grey and white décor. There’s an open-plan living room and a modern kitchen, complete with a dining table, breakfast bar and an elegant, pared-back sitting room for relaxing after a day of exploring the beautiful surrounds.
The villa comfortably sleeps six, and there are three bright and airy bedrooms – some with flat-screen TVs, full-length mirrors and plenty of storage space. The master is painted white and includes a king-size wicker bed. With Wi-Fi, air-conditioning and towels included, the owners have pulled out the stops to bring you the most tranquil home-away-from-home holiday.
Opening the glass doors from the kitchen or bedroom, you’re greeted by a picturesque sun terrace and garden overlooking the ocean. Dip your toes in the infinity pool or get lost in your favourite book on a sun lounger. There’s plenty of places for you to sit in the sun or the shade. The outdoor area also includes a traditional BBQ and a shaded spot for dining al fresco while taking in the views.
Although the area’s pleasantly quiet, you’re close to local shops, tavernas and cafés, and are only around a 15-minute drive away from the centre of Mykonos. Famous for its cosmopolitan atmosphere, you’ll find lots of places to eat and explore in the town including sun-soaked beaches and architectural wonders – making this an ideal destination for families, friends and couples alike.Mykonos is a cosmopolitan Greek island in the Aegean Sea. With mazes of white-washed buildings and historic churches, the island’s architecture is one of a kind. Located near the neighbouring uninhabited islands of Delos – with a UNESCO-listed archaeological site – and Rhenia with pristine beach coves and snorkelling sports – Mykonos is the perfect place to go exploring.
Perhaps one of the most photographed spots on the island is Little Venice – a collection of picturesque 18th-century homes which line the sea. There you can also grab a bite to eat at one of the local bars or restaurants. Another main attraction nearby is the Mykonos Windmills, 3.5km from the villa. They stand facing the sea and are beautifully lit up at night.
From Villa Marine, you’re within walking distance of shops and tavernas, while Mykonos Town is a 15-minute drive. Spend your afternoon browsing the boutique shops for classic Greek souvenirs like leather sandals and olive oil or soak in the island’s history and visit one of the churches, chapels or museums. We love the whitewashed Tourliani Monastery, just off the main square.
For days spent whiling away at the beach, sandy Psarou Beach is 400 metres away from the villa with crystal-clear calm waters for swimming. The island also boasts 25 more beaches for you to choose from. Elia is Mykonos’ longest sweep of white sand, popular with families, while Platys Gialos and Kalafatis are renowned for water sports.
