Villa Violet Blue is a luxurious three-bedroom villa, set into the hillside, on the Greek island of Mykonos. Overlooking the turquoise Aegean Sea, this family-friendly villa boasts panoramic views of the shoreline and exudes traditional Mediterranean style with rustic stone walls and a fresh whitewashed interior.
Take a cooling dip in your private pool or walk down steps to the sandy coast. Set in a peaceful spot, the surrounding area is quiet and unspoilt, yet you’re still within easy reach of a few local restaurants and bars. With the best of both worlds – Villa Violet Blue is private and part of a secluded complex – you have access to a dock, extensive gardens and onsite management. Oh, and did we mention the helipad? Perfect for arriving or leaving in James Bond fashion.
Outside the villa, there’s a tranquil garden and sun terrace with comfortable places to sit and dine in the sun or the shade – all with views of the sea. Stepping inside, you’ll find an open-plan living room with a TV, alongside a fully-equipped kitchen with a coffee machine, dishwasher and oven for easy meal prep at home. There’s also a BBQ for dining al fresco while taking in the charming ambience.
Villa Violet Blue has three bright bathrooms, beautiful beamed ceilings and pared-back furnishings for a contemporary look and relaxed feel. Sleeping six, you have the choice of three bedrooms including the master bedroom – a white-on-white room with a king-size bed and long windows – which shares the same laid back atmosphere. Extra ‘luxe’ features include air conditioning, Wi-Fi and towels for a hassle-free home-away-from-home experience.
With Psarou Beach – think golden sand and shallow clear water – a walk or drive from Villa Violet Blue alongside Mykonos Town a short drive away, with its iconic Cycladic architecture and chic cafe-bar-boutique scene, you’re ideally placed to explore more of what this idyllic island has to offer.The cosmopolitan Greek island of Mykonos is renowned for its pristine sandy beaches and iconic landmarks including a row of picturesque 16th-century windmills, which sit on a hill above Mykonos town and are 3.5km the villa. With a friendly and welcoming atmosphere and plenty of things for you to see and do, it’s the perfect holiday destination for families, friends and couples alike.
With its windmills on the ridge overhead and vernacular Cycladic architecture along narrow lanes, the main town of Mykonos is the main attraction, and it’s a stroller’s paradise. There are beautiful blue and white houses and tiny streets full of shops and churches for you to visit. You’ll also find bars and taverns for tasting local cuisine and boutiques for picking up typical Greek souvenirs, like olive oil or leather sandals. Nearby, you can explore Little Venice – a group of medieval houses tottering right at the water’s edge – and you’ll find art boutiques and cafés here too. For history lovers, there are four museums, including the Archaeological Museum, with Geometric and Archaic era pottery.
For days spent relaxing on the beach listening to the lapping waves, family-orientated Psarou, to the west, is well protected and boasts crystal-clear waters – perfect for swimming. Kalafatis in the east has a scuba centre, windsurf school and scenic islets to marvel at offshore. For the keen divers, Paradise Beach is a popular spot with two wrecks, caverns and several reefs nearby to explore.
Mykonos is also the jumping-off point for the UNESCO-listed archaeological site of the nearby island of Delos and uninhabited island of Rhenia. You can take a boat trip and sail across the Aegean, stopping to swim and snorkel at pristine beach coves.
