The gorgeous Villa Salamina stands in a wonderful plot in the peaceful resort of Afandou, 20 km south of the Old Town of Rhodes and 4 km south of Faliraki. Afandou enjoys a sprinkling of waterfront fish tavernas and restaurants, charming shops selling ceramics and local honey, churches and a long stretch of sand and pebbles. It is also home to an excellent 18 hole golf course. Afandou is one of the oldest and largest traditional villages on the island. Nearby, there are lovely hiking trails through the Psalidi Hills. The location is brilliant as you can easily visit Rhodes Town, Lindos, the wonderful Butterfly Valley, Kamiros and Kallithea. Pretty much everything you may want to see can be reached in thirty minutes!
Villa Salamina is a contemporary wonder with both curved and straight line architecture, dazzling render and wonderful entertainment spaces. It offers a huge open plan living area, four fabulous bedrooms and two bathrooms, one being ensuite to the master bedroom. The villa is drowned in natural light through its many windows and doors. Throughout, it enjoys calm, neutral decor aside from the colourful master bedroom suite.
The living space is open plan in design. It cleverly offers a large sociable space with a modern corner sofa and dining table and a cosy television corner with another sofa. This leads to an immaculate kitchen with a handy breakfast table. The chefs in your group will be delighted with the kitchen and its excellent appliances. They might also want to hand over to your barbecue masters once you see the magnificent outdoor kitchen!
The villa boasts four bedrooms. The master is an eye-catching space with bright colour pops and huge bed on a circular platform. It also boasts a dressing table which sits in the curve of the building and an en-suite bathroom with a bath. Two of the other bedrooms also enjoy beautifully dressed kingsize beds and the last is a minimalist twin. All of the bedrooms boast balconies. In addition to the bedrooms, guests are welcome to use the sofa bed in the living room. As well as the en-suite bathroom, there is a family bathroom with a shower.
Outside, guests enjoy beautiful gardens sprinkled with palms and towering trees, an excellent swimming pool and gorgeous terraces. The alfresco dining terrace is sensational. It is shaded and enjoys a superb outdoor kitchen with a barbecue and pizza oven. You will have a lot of fun here! Quality loungers surround the pool and lush lawns surround the villa. The villa is totally secluded and enjoys wonderful views. You will be delighted with your pick!Villa Salamina enjoys a wonderful location from where you can easily explore the whole island. It is just a few minutes from the peaceful, pretty and popular Afandou Beach. Offering seafront tavernas and friendly bars, it is a great spot. Our Lady Katholiki Church offers attractive 16th century frescoes. Close to the beach, your golfing fans can pick up a club and enjoy a round on the 18 hole golf course. A tourist train runs through Afandou. Afandou is located between Lindos and Rhodes Town and only two miles from the gorgeous Anthony Quinn Bay. It is also only fifteen minutes from Tsampika Beach which is beautiful, combining soft golden sand with crystal clear shallow water.
Close to the villa, nature lovers enjoy seeing Epta Piges or Seven Springs. It is a place of unique natural beauty and home to much wildlife.
Faliraki is buzzy and vibrant with many hotels, bars, restaurants and an enormous sandy beach. The beach starts at the small harbour and spreads for nearly 5km so it’s a great spot to head for if you want a day of watersports and lazing in the sun. There is even an inflatable park for the young ones. Just about every watersport imaginable is offered as well as bungee jumping. The nightlife is incredible with fabulous restaurants, bars and nightclubs. The Faliraki Water Park is fantastic fun and a very popular excursion for families.
The gorgeous Old Town of Rhodes is roughly ten miles away. It is an intricate warren of busy commercial streets and delightful, quiet alleys, the oldest inhabited medieval town in Europe and has UNESCO World Cultural Heritage status. A walk along the medieval walls of the Old Town will offer you fabulous views, accessible from the must-see Palace of the Grand Masters. The Old Town is full of Byzantine and Gothic churches, medieval buildings, mosques, traditional fountains, oriental motifs and many boutique shops and restaurants. Other highlights of the Old Town are the Archaeological Museum housed in the Gothic building of the Great Hospital of the Knights, The Street of the Knights, the Museum of Modern Greek Art with an eclectic collection only rivalled by Athens and some of its mosques.
The historic, famed Lindos Acropolis is as spectacular as the coastal views it enjoys. It overlooks the whitewashed town of Lindos. The ruins tell the story of the island’s past with remains from the Roman era, an ancient Greek temple and a castle built by the medieval knights of St John. Lindos is very pretty and full of unique jewellery and handicraft shops, boutiques, vibrant bars and wonderful restaurants. You can even hitch a ride to the top on the back of a donkey! With a beautiful beach, Lindos really is a coastal gem.
The super-sized Kallithea Beach sits minutes from the colourful, pretty village of Koskinou. The beach is famous for its hot medicinal springs which were built by the Italians though no longer function. The village is beautiful, lined with palm and pine trees and sprinkled with beautifully renovated buildings and mosaics, all influenced by the Arabic architecture. Koskinou is incredibly picturesque, famous for its unique mosaic of colours and carries an air of sophistication. Its wood and iron house doors are all painted in vivid colours and enjoy carved or etched designs. The little cobbled gardens are so pretty behind the courtyard doors. It is a village that makes you feel happy. The village boasts charming narrow streets, beautiful churches and chapels and a wonderful array of traditional taverns and cafes. There are countless paths that lead from the newer, coastal part to the old village with its cobbled streets and whitewashed squares full of vibrant flowers. Kallithea is situated against a setting of world famous spa baths and stunning beaches. The Kallithea Spa was built in 1920 by the Italians.
