The most popular beaches are Agios Georgios, Soros, and Kampos, with their easy entry to shallow crystal clear waters, sun loungers and shady parasols, and local tavernas for a tasty lunch of homemade meze. The main town of Antiparos is a few kilometres north of the villa, with the original fortifications of a fifteenth-century Venetian castle and the adjacent cathedral as its main attraction.
The winding colourful streets of the Chora with blossoming bougainvillaea, are home to souvenir shops full of local and handcrafted goods you’ll want to take home with you. Shop for ceramics and pottery, lovely leather goods, handmade gold and silver jewellery, and homemade honey and olives. Dine in family-run restaurants on the island’s delicacies, such as rabbit, zucchini, fish, and octopus. Take a day trip from the harbour aboard an island hopping ferry, or a caique that can take you to hidden coves and secret bays for swimming, snorkelling, and sunbathing. Get active, hike across the island to discover the local flora and fauna, scuba dive to discover wrecks and reefs, and test your balancing skills in wind and kite surfing across the sea. Make sure you make a visit to the famous Neolithic Cave of Antiparos, with its display of stalagmite and stalactite formations, and the adjacent Greek Orthodox Church of Agios Ioannis Spiliotis, with an altar from the times of Alexander. All aboard the local ferry to Despotiko, a small uninhabited island, with long sandy beaches, and ancient relics of a Doric temple dating from five hundred BC, with a set of sculptures, considered to be of great archaeological significance.
