Rental Description

Prepare for landing on your very own Helipad, when you arrive at Villa Atticus on the south coast of Syros, a Cycladic island in the azure Aegean Sea. This incredible two-storey, eco-friendly villa boasts four double bedrooms and can accommodate up to eight guests, with a lot of comforts, and even more style. The villa would be ideal for a family holiday, or a group of friends get-together, and it is possible to host events too. This must be seen to be believed property is set into the hillside, surrounded by a hewn stone wall, enclosing a rough garden of local herbs and indigenous shrubs.
An infinity swimming pool takes pride of place, with panoramic views across the Aegean and beyond. The villa comes complete with private parking, complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, and a Concierge team, your wish is their command. Villa Atticus is built out of classic Cycladic whitewashed walls, and local stone, with floor-to-ceiling picture windows that flood the space with lots of natural light, and open onto the terrace. The interiors are elegant minimalism, furnished with modern pieces, natural pale and dark woods, funky lighting, and a contemporary colour palette of crisp clean sharp white, with contrasting shades of muted greys.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will find a light and airy open-plan living space, with floor-to-ceiling windows that offer fantastic sea views, and open out onto the pool terrace. The seating area has a soft grey L-shaped sofa, matching armchair, pouffe and footstool, and a coffee table, facing a flat-screen satellite television, and an energy efficient fireplace for those cooler months and evenings. The adjacent eight seater dining set is the smartest spot to host some impressive indoor entertaining. The pale wood kitchen is fully equipped with everything you will need to cater for your holiday, and if you don’t fancy cooking, then the Concierge team can arrange your own private chef. On the lower level, there are four simply dressed bedrooms, each with a double bed, open wood wardrobes, and access to the terrace. Three of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms with walk-in showers, and there is a further shared bathroom and guest cloakroom. If you must work on holiday, a business desk is furnished with all the technology you will need.
The expansive panoramic sea view terrace is another living space in itself. The centrepiece step-entry, sea view, chlorine-free, infinity pool is breath-takingly beautiful. The pool is surrounded by the deepest gun metal grey cushioned sun loungers, perfect for catching some rays, and relaxing with this year’s blockbuster. The pergola-covered alfresco dining set is the place to meet for cocktails at sundown, and feast off local delicacies freshly grilled on the built-in barbeque in the outdoor preparation kitchen. As dusk falls and the stars begin to shine, raise of glass of Syros wine to the most memorable holiday.
Villa Atticus can be found nestled in the rugged hillside overlooking the fashionable south coast of Syros, a Cycladic island in the Greek Aegean Sea. Arrive in style by helicopter and land on your very own helipad, or take a domestic flight from Athens to the island’s Dimitrios Vikelas airport, a fifteen-minute journey from the villa. Alternatively, you can take the ferry from one of the three ports in Athens to Syros harbour, and enjoy a twenty-minute coast road ride to the villa. If you are island hopping, ferries and day boats from the nearby Cycladic islands are frequent visitors.
The villa can be found in a slightly remote spot, which makes it ideal for a tranquil and peaceful holiday, with the nearest facilities just under two kilometres away. We highly recommend hiring a car to make the most of your holiday. The nearest village is the picturesque Megas Gialos, on the south coast, noted for having one of the largest sandy beaches on the island, which is protected from the winds, and has crystal clear waters in which to swim and snorkel. Megas Gialos has charming streets strewn with colourful seasonal blooms, a scattering of shops, cafes, bars, friendly family-run tavernas, and a small chapel. The capital of the island is the town of Ermoupolis, just fifteen minutes drive from the villa. Ermoupolis is built in an amphitheatre bay and is a large port town that is rich in history. The town has exquisite Venetian architecture and merchant’s houses, bougainvillea covered streets, and is home to the island’s culture. All life meets in the central Miaouli Square, with its grand neoclassical Town Hall, statues of the island’s heroes, and convivial cafes, bars, and tavernas, where you can enjoy the Greek way of life, sipping coffee, as the world passes by. Ermoupolis boasts an Archeological Museum, the 1864 Apollo Theatre, inspired by La Scala in Milan, a Greek Orthodox cathedral and a Roman Catholic church, and unusually it has a Casino too.
The adjacent suburb of Ano Syros dates to thirteenth-century medieval times, has a steep set of marble stairs down to the harbour, and commands stunning sea views out to the sister Cycladic islands from the top. The south coast of Syros is renowned for its sandy beaches, visit the village of Kini, with its long sandy beach and clear waters, take a trip to nearby Vary, with its family-friendly sheltered shallow waters, or if you dare, you can bare all on the pebbly Delfini beach. If you are feeling sporty, there is a horseback riding school, a tennis club, cycling and hiking tours, bike rental, snorkelling and scuba, and some of the organised beaches offer fun-filled water sports.
All aboard for a day at sea, swimming in secret coves and hidden bays, dining aboard on Greek meze, then sailing back into the harbour at sunset. Get a taste of the island with a cooking class, and raise a glass of local vino on a wine tour. In the evening dine on freshly caught fish at a seafront restaurant, then dance until dawn at a fashionable beach bar. o explore trips where you discover islands you’ve never heard of, to private charters
