Villa Manto Greece
Holiday Home Rental Description
Even in your wildest imagination a vacation in Villa Manto is beyond beautiful. This incredible one-storey villa can be found overlooking the azure Aegean Sea, on the northwest coast of the exclusive island of Mykonos. Set in a two thousand square metre plot, the living space is divided between the main house with three double bedrooms and four independent guest houses. The property can comfortably accommodate up to fourteen guests, perfect for a large family gathering, or a group of friends’ get-together holiday.
A stone-tiled sea view terrace surrounds the villa, with a centrepiece private infinity freshwater swimming pool, well-maintained gardens, and even your very own football pitch. The villa comes with private parking for up to four cars, complimentary air-conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, and an indoor and outdoor surround-sound music system. Villa Manto is built in a traditional Cycladic style, with smooth curved whitewashed walls, and architect-designed domed and beamed ceilings. The interiors are simply exquisite, cleverly combining luxury with comfort, furnished with uber contemporary pieces, decorated with some seriously funky artwork and original artefacts, and using a colour palette of crisp clean whites with contrasting natural earth tones.
Starting with the two hundred and seventy square metre main house, where there are a couple of inviting seating spaces. One has a cool all-white sofa and matching armchairs, with an open fire for those cooler months and evenings, the other has a cosy large L-shaped dusky brown sofa under a beamed ceiling, and a satellite television. On a raised platform is a seriously smart indoor dining set. The spacious kitchen is superbly equipped with all the latest modern appliances that you will need to cater for your holiday, or better still get the concierge team to arrange a private chef for the duration. Three beautifully appointed ensuite double bedrooms are housed in the main villa. The sea view master bedroom has a double bed, with an ensuite shower room, and balcony doors that open onto the pool area, perfect if you fancy a few lengths before breakfast. The second ensuite bedroom has a double bed, and a further double bed in the attic room, with access to an outdoor terrace, which would make an ideal family suite. The third bedroom has a double bed and ensuite bathroom. A handy guest cloakroom completes the accommodation of the main house.
The first and second guesthouses each have a double bedroom with an ensuite shower room and access to the outdoor seating area. The third has a double bedroom, with an ensuite shower room, and a seating area with a small kitchenette that opens directly onto the pool terrace and garden. Last, but not least, is the fourth guesthouse, with twin beds that can be made into a double, a television, and an ensuite shower room.
The panoramic, sweeping sea view and stone-tiled terrace will simply take your breath away. The star of the show is the step-entry T-shaped, eighty square metre, infinity freshwater swimming pool, surrounded by modern mesh strategically positioned sun loungers, and lazy day hammocks. After a dip take a stroll around the mature gardens, and play a game of five-a-side football on your own pitch. Take a nap in the relaxing soft seating spot, nestled under a stone-built shady pergola, whilst the bar is the best place to meet for cocktails at sunset. Feast alfresco under the stars at the elegant outdoor dining set, with local delicacies freshly grilled on the barbeque.
Villa Manto is located on the hillside just north of the village of Tourlos, on the jet-set Cycladic island of Mykonos, in the heart of the Aegean Sea. The exclusive island of Mykonos measures only ten kilometres long by fifteen kilometres wide, so wherever you want to go it’s only a short drive away. The villa is only four kilometres from Mykonos Airport, which is served by both local and international flight operators. If you are island hopping, then nearby Naxos and Syros also have their own airports.
The coastal village of Tourlos is on the North West side of the island, and is fabulously cosmopolitan, with celebrity-spotting seafront bars and traditional tavernas, and local mini-marts to cater for all your holiday catering. The coastline is populated with many beautiful golden sandy beaches, the nearest one is the family-friendly favourite of Agios Stephanos is a six-hundred-metre walk away. Nearby the organised Tourlos beach has sun loungers and shady parasols, or take it up a notch and party, party, party all day long on the hedonistic Paradise Beach, with its crystal clear waters, restaurants, bars, and clubs with resident DJs. During daylight seek solace in one of the eight hundred churches that populate the island, most notably Paraportiani, which is a unique construction combining four styles of architecture, or nearby the church of St George Spilinnos, uniquely built into the cavity of the rocks.
Take a visit to Mykonos old town, known locally as Chora, only three kilometres from the villa. Here you can wander the maze of streets with the colourful Cycladic houses strewn with beautiful bougainvillaea, and do some serious designer shopping in one of the many luxury label boutiques. Take a seat at a seafront restaurant and enjoy a dish of freshly caught seafood, whilst sipping ouzo, and watching the beautiful people pass by. Find out the island’s history and culture at the Archaeological Museum, the Folk Museum, and the Maritime Museum, and go out slightly of town to Lena’s House to discover how the islanders lived. Take a walk up to the landmark windmills, or as they are known locally, Kato Mili, where once the wheat was ground to make bread, and is now a mini museum and residencies. Walk along the waterfront to Little Venice, where the original and colourful merchant houses overhang the sea, and is now home to cafes, bars, restaurants, and galleries, best enjoyed as the sun sets with a retsina or two. Admire the Armenistis lighthouse, still fully functioning and an essential asset of Mykonos’ maritime history.
No visit to Mykonos is complete without a day at sea, join a catamaran jolly and snorkel in the sea, or charter your own yacht complete with a captain, and discover secret coves and hidden bays and beaches. For the romantics, nothing beats a sunset cruise, cocktail in hand as the sun sets over the horizon. Hop aboard a ferry for a day trip to the adjacent island of Tinos, visit the landmark Renaissance-style Church of Panagia Evangelistria, tilt at windmills, visit the fifty villages, walk the ancient fortifications, and coo at the famous dovecotes. Further afield the uninhabited island of Delos is well worth a visit, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, home to the birthplace of Zeus and Leto, go with a group or arrange your own private tour.
