Be one of the very first guests to stay in the brand new Villa Paria, near the holiday hot spot of Naousa, on the Cycladic island of Paros, in the Greek Aegean Sea. This stunning architect-designed, two-storey, detached villa has six ensuite bedrooms and can accommodate up to twelve guests in some comfort, and a lot of styles. The property is set on its own grounds and is made up of the main house, and a separate guest house, with an extensive exterior living space, and your own private infinity swimming pool. The vast communal courtyard is home to luxury outdoor living and boasts panoramic azure Aegean Sea views.
The property comes with private parking, and all the mod’s cons, including complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. A Premium Concierge service is also part of the package, and they can arrange almost anything for you, from yacht charters to yoga lessons. This impressive villa has the Wow Factor, built out of classic Cycladic whitewashed walls, clean lines, and cubic formations, contrasted with an extensive wooden decked terrace. The interiors are furnished with chic minimalism for maximum impact, floor-to-ceiling windows flood the space with natural light and sea breezes, and reward the guest with picture window sea views. Whilst the décor is a cool palette of natural beige hues and subtle shades of blues.
Enter the Main House, and at the ground floor level, you will find your holiday home of elegant open-plan living. The light and airy seating area has sliding doors that open onto the terrace and is furnished with two large shades of beige sofas, funky wood and white coffee and side tables, woven pouffes, and a flat-screen television. The adjacent dining set has a long white table and wooden chairs to seat twelve, ideal for some seriously splendid indoor entertaining. The all-white fully equipped kitchen is seriously smart, with built-in appliances, a preparation island, and a breakfast bar with high stools. On the ground floor, there are three beautifully-appointed ensuite bedrooms, all with double beds, marble bathrooms with walk-in showers, and access to the pool terrace. Take the stairs to the upper terrace where you will find the spacious master bedroom, with a double bed, an ensuite marble bathroom, and a huge glass-fronted balcony with uninterrupted sea views. There is also a twin room, with an ensuite shower room, and access to the balcony. The separate private guesthouse is on the other side of the courtyard and has a double bedroom, an ensuite bathroom, and a kitchenette, perfect for making a morning coffee to enjoy on the independent veranda.
The star of the show is the breathtaking outdoor living space, accessed from the ground floor rooms, and commanding wrap-around as far as the eye can see sea views. The step-entry infinity swimming pool takes pride in place, long enough for a few lengths before breakfast, and perfect for a cooling afternoon dip. The pool is surrounded by decking on which sits modern mesh sun loungers with shady parasols, and squishy bean bags on which to relax and read this year’s best seller. Seek solace and shade under the pergola that is home to a large wrap-around L-shaped soft seating area. When dusk falls, pull up a stool at the outside bar, concocting cocktails, and raise a glass to the most memorable holiday. As the stars come out to shine, feast alfresco at the fabulous outdoor dining set, with local delicacies freshly grilled on the barbeque!
Villa Paria can be found nestled in the tiny village of Xyfara, three kilometres from the holiday hot spot of Naousa, and on the way to the tiny town of Santa Maria. Paros National is the nearest airport at twenty kilometres away, and mainly serves flights to and from Athens. For those who are island hopping or arriving by ferry, the nearest port is ten kilometres from the villa.
The village of Xyfara has its own beautiful beach, and you can get immediate holiday provisions from the local shops, and stop off at a local taverna to sample some home cooking and ouzo. Nip to the holiday hot spot of Naousa, a picturesque fishing village, that has managed to retain its original rustic charm. Walk the maze of stone streets to discover tiny churches, admire the thirteenth-century icons in the Byzantine Museum, and then visit the Venetian castle. Find yourself a seafront taverna and dine off freshly caught fish, most especially the local dish of sundried mackerel. After dark Naousa is known for its nightlife, here you can dance till dawn. Slightly further afield, other recommended beaches include, Kolymbithres for its amazing rock formations, golden sands, and crystal clear waters, Faraggas and Monastiri especially on windy days, as they offer natural shelter, and the popular cosmopolitan Santa Maria, and Golden Beach.
Take time for a day trip to the town of Parikia, the historic capital of the island, on the west coast. Make sure you visit the fourth-century Byzantine Greek Orthodox gem of Panagia Ekatontapiliani and admire the marble screens and original icons. Walk up to the top of the town to see the Frankish castle with thick marble and rock walls, built by the Venetians in the thirteenth century. Here you will find a blue-domed church and sweeping scenic views. Visit the Archeological Museum, charting the cultural history of the island from antiquity to Ottoman times, and noted for its collection of statues. Amble down the cobbles streets, with its charming blue and white houses, and colourful overhanging bougainvillaea. Lose yourself in the labyrinth of souvenir shops selling hand-crafted artefacts, relax in a local ouzo bar, and enjoy lunch in one of the many restaurants. Hit the beaches, choose from Parikia’s laid-back white sandy beach, go slightly north to busy Lividia, or south to Delfini, set in a small cove. At the end of the day, find your spot and watch the famous sunsets, a glass of wine in hand.
For those who want to get active Paros has thirty-eight hiking trails, nine running ones, and six road bike riding tours, take your pick. Go kitesurfing in Pounda, windsurfing at Golden Beach, and water skiing and wakeboarding at Naousa. Take a tour of one of the island’s many vineyards, sample the results of the harvest, and take home a bottle or two. Venture further afield with a day trip to the sister island of Antiparos, just across the water from the port of Pounda, for a fabulous laid back relaxing day seek out the beautiful beaches of Faneromeni, Agios Georgios, and Sifneikos Gialos.
