So you can enjoy a day trip to the endless art galleries and buzzing streets of the city of culture, before returning to your secluded sanctuary. The nearby cities of Prado (a twenty-minute drive) and Pistoia (a half-hour drive) could almost rival Florence with their medieval splendour.
It’s set in acres and acres of land and, on exploring, you’ll find lush forest trails and even a stream of tumbling waterfalls all within the grounds. A huge infinity pool invites you for a dip on hot, sunny days and there are hammocks, day beds, loungers and plush outdoor sofas galore for an alfresco siesta. Patios, terraces and courtyards are set up for outdoor dining, courtesy of the full outdoor kitchen with its barbecue and wood-fired pizza oven.
Inside, it’s all Tuscan charm. A former mill, you can feel the history of this place in the thick stone walls and timber beams. The vaulted brick ceiling in the living room whispers of this building’s former life, and there’s plenty of room for the whole group to dine at the antique table. The kitchen is farmhouse-style, with a big island in its centre and bedrooms look out over the peaceful grounds.
