Rent Villa Iceberg Diamondleaf Portugal
Holiday Home Rental Description
Formerly the Dutch ambassador’s house in Portugal, this enchanting villa offers a luxurious and rustic retreat to those craving nature’s call.
Surrounded by an abundance of local wildlife, prepare to unplug, unwind and reconnect with yourself and your loved ones when staying here. Boasting a self-sufficient farm, it is clear from the outset that the owners are passionate about conservation and organic living. Animal lovers are in for a treat as the premises are also home to two rare Portuguese female donkeys Sky and Willow, as well as two rescued pot-bellied pigs, Poppy and Peggy. There are also chickens and geese on-site, and all of the animals are discreetly cared for each morning and evening by the owner via a separate entrance.
Set away from the farm animals, you’ll find your own private corner of paradise, filled with quirky design features, bohemian styling and furniture pieces collected from all over the world. Picture yourself here now, tucking into some fresh eggs for breakfast as the smell of hot coffee lingers through the dining area. Open up the glass doors and feel the warm breeze brush your skin. Utter bliss.
Dotted throughout the home, you’ll find plenty of cosy seating areas perfect for relaxing drinks with views over the hill. When the weather is kind, there’s nowhere better than the leafy green garden pool area, but a snuggly spot in front of the wood burner will call your name when it’s cold.
From the stunning open kitchen via a colossal Rajasthani door, you’ll find a yoga and meditation room with south-facing doors onto the terrace – idyllic for tuning into daily practice or simply just a morning stretch.
With space for fourteen guests across seven bedrooms, two lucky guests will be in the self-contained flat downstairs, featuring an en-suite bedroom, kitchenette, sauna, shower, and a games room decked out with a pool table and table football.
The outside space presents a sanctuary of nature that feels like you’re venturing into a magical kingdom of peace and serenity. Stretching across 17000 metres, newly planted meadows boasting a fruit terrace and olive vines fragrance the air with Mediterranean aromas. Meanwhile, the purposefully overgrown gardens provide habitat to bees and rare animals, big and small.
When the sun is shining, it’s likely that you’ll find yourselves hanging out on the day beds by the pool or getting competitive on the croquet lawn. You’ll also find a tennis court with a basketball net and a trampoline just below the pool area.
Hidden away, even further down, is an award-winning curvaceous hobbit house which sleeps two guests, with their own kitchen and bathroom in a romantic setting.
The perfect starting point for mountain bike and hiking trail adventures, the villa puts you within easy reach of an endless array of activities. Go surfing at Guincho, for example, just a five-minute drive away, or lap up the restaurants and shops of Cascais – reachable in around fifteen minutes. Not to mention the world heritage site of Sintra, which is well worth a visit and found fifteen minutes away by car or forty minutes when cycling.
