Furnishings and finishes mostly fall within a modern colour palette of whites and greys, while there’s a tasteful minimalism to the kitchen and bathrooms that we appreciate. Moreover, the master bedroom has a small balcony with enough room to sit out and gaze out over the rooftops of the leafy locale.
However, we would be lying if we didn’t concede that it’s the luxurious communal amenities that are the big pull here. When you’re in need of a little exercise, guests have the choice of a large indoor swimming pool or two outdoor ones (with one specifically designed for children), as well as gym equipment, an ice bath and a yoga studio. The in-house restaurant is ready and waiting once you’ve earnt a big lunch and there are also conference facilities if you need to knuckle down at any point.
When you want to see a little more of the city, the designer stores of Hyde Park Corner – South Africa’s first-ever covered shopping centre – are just over five minutes away on foot and there are restaurants and cocktail bars aplenty on Parkhurst 4th Avenue, just under ten minutes’ drive away.
