In the south of the island, Villa Arte offers an undeniably stylish introduction to Tenerife. Designed by the architect owner, this quiet and private residence can accommodate up to 6 guests, who will enjoy the most spectacular of ocean views and a magnificent pool.
Far from the island’s more touristic side, Villa Arte is invitingly luxurious. South-facing, your well-appointed terrace looks right out to sea, with ample seating, sun loungers, hammocks and a barbecue. The pool is heated all year-round, with a direct view from the living space through large glass windows.
Large windows are found in all of the rooms, to make the most of the stunning views. Imaginative and immaculate throughout, the house features an open-plan space with living and dining areas and a fully equipped kitchen. All the amenities you will need, including an oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine and coffee maker are provided.
The master suite is certainly something special, with its feature fireplace and a skylight through which to watch the stars at night. This room is equipped with a king-size bed, en-suite with double shower, two sinks and a whirlpool bath, satellite TV and a balcony of its own.The remaining two double bedrooms, which can be arranged as twins if needed, are both elegantly furnished and comfortable, each with an adjoining bathroom. There’s Wi-Fi throughout the house, to keep everyone as connected as they wish.
The wonderful Parque Nacional del Teide is waiting to be explored, just a short drive inland, with its vast volcanic landscapes a must-see. Take a cable car to the summit of Mount Teide, and you’ll enjoy panoramic views of the island from an even higher vantage point. Tenerife is not short of incredible scenery, whether it’s in the Anaga Mountains, in picturesque towns like Garachico or underwater – there are great diving spots all over the island. The village of Tijoco Bajo in the south west of Tenerife provides the necessities for visitors, including a mini-market, pharmacy, bars and restaurants, but perhaps its biggest plus is its location. Within a few minutes’ drives, you can be at the beach, or in the mountains, as the village is situated between the coast and the incredible Parque Nacional del Teide.The island’s main tourism centres lie just down the coast. Playa de las Americas is a haven for water-sports, beach life and nightlife, and has some good family attractions too. The Thai-themed water park, Siam Park, is perhaps a little more imaginative than most, while dolphin and whale watching is sure to enchant both children and adults.Once a small fishing town, Los Cristianos is now a popular resort with beautiful golden sands and a promenade full of good eateries. It’s also not a bad place to shop, with all sorts of interesting boutiques, and cafés to keep you going in between.For all the fun to be had at the resorts, it’s the natural beauty that keeps people coming back to Tenerife. Hiking in the rugged Anaga Mountains comes highly recommended – a trail leading you from the Mercedes Forest to Punta del Hidalgo on the northern coast shows you a completely different side of the island. The National Park’s 10-mile-wide volcanic crater dominates central Tenerife, with mighty Mount Teide reaching a peak of over 12,000 feet.
