Villa Dilay is a delightful modern villa located in Ovacik’s charming village, near the iconic Olu Deniz beach, and the cosmopolitan town of Fethiye on Turkey’s Turquoise coast. This three storey detached villa has four ensuite double bedrooms and can comfortably accommodate up to eight guests, ideal for a family or group of friends sharing. Villa Dilay is set in a secure stone walled garden with a private swimming pool and comes with its own parking space and complimentary air conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout. The villa is built out of traditional whitewashed Mediterranean stone, with paved tiles and marble floors. Floor to ceiling windows give access to the tiled terrace and bedroom balconies and flood the living space with lots of light and air. The interiors have been furnished with traditional classic pieces, lots of natural wood, and decorated in a neutral palette of crisp cool whites and shades of grey, with hues of blues highlights.
Enter the villa at the ground floor level, where you will find a light and airy open-plan living space. The seating area has two comfy sofas, matching chairs, and a wooden coffee table facing a flat screen smart television. An elegant formal wooden eight-seater dining table is ideal for hosting some impressive indoor entertaining. The modern white and black marble kitchen is fully equipped with all of the latest appliances you will need to cater for your holiday, including a built-in oven and hob, a washing machine and dishwasher, a microwave, and a family size fridge freezer. Take the stairs to the first floor, where you will find three double bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms with huge walk-in showers, wardrobes, bedside tables, vanity units, and their own private balconies. Two of the bedrooms have double beds and flat screen smart televisions, whilst the third is a twin with two single beds. The top floor is home to an impressive master bedroom suite, with a king size bed, seating area, in-room Jacuzzi, an ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower, and a private furnished balcony with a panoramic view, perfect for enjoying morning coffee as the sun rises, or cocktails at sunset.
Access the terrace from the floor to ceiling doors in the living area, where you will find an enclosed garden and your own private step entry swimming pool. The pool is long enough for a few lengths before breakfast and perfect for a cool down dip in the afternoon sun. Electric blue cushioned sun loungers and shady parasols surround the pool. The terrace is home to a full-size tennis table and pool table perfectly positioned under a shady gazebo. As the sun sets, meet on the terrace for cocktails before dining alfresco at the six seater wicker table and chairs. Villa Dilay is nestled in the mountains of Ovacik village, between the bustling town of Fethiye and the tourist destinations of Hisaronu and Oludeniz, both just fifteen minutes away. Local shops and restaurants are a kilometre away for holiday provisions and refreshments. The town of Hisaronu is home to a host of supermarkets, cafes, bars, restaurants, and some super souvenir shops.
Take a short drive to the holiday hot spot of Oludeniz, where you will find one of the world’s best golden sandy beaches, the iconic and much photographed lagoon and spit lively seashore restaurants and bars and exclusive shops. From here, you can hop aboard a water taxi to Butterfly Valley or cross the sea to Gemile Island, aka Aya Nikola, a natural protected area that is now an open-air museum. For the thrill seekers, head up the hill and take the cable car to the top of Mount Babadag; at almost two thousand metres above sea level, you can jump off and paraglide solo or in tandem and land on Oludeniz beach.
For shopping and the city, Fethiye is your go-to destination. Fethiye is a harbour town with yachts moored the length of the coastline, home to an ancient amphitheatre, a historical museum and fascinating rock tombs. Don’t miss the opportunity to embark on a must-do Twelve Island boat trip. Fethiye has a foodie-heaven fish market for a catch of the day fabulous feast. Super souvenir shops sell all of your favourite designer brands. It is famed for its large local Tuesday market selling everything from homegrown organic produce to hand crafted art and artefacts. A walk around the newly paved panoramic coastline will take you to the town and beach of Calis, home to more restaurants and bars and a local market.
If it’s history you are after, you’ve come to the right place; hike the Lycian Way and take a trip through time. Trace the past with trips to Xanthos, the ancient capital of Lycia, and home to the oldest republic in the world, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site; discover mosaics, amphitheatres, agoras, and an acropolis. Walk the ancient ruins of Patara, the birthplace of St Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus, and lose yourself its twenty kilometres of sandy beach, home to the famous Caretta Caretta breeding turtles. Explore the rock tombs of Tlos, carved in the façade of the ancient city ruins, where you will find a necropolis, Roman baths, and an Ottoman Basilica. Head for Letoon to see the mosaic of the goddess Leto as you wander through the Temple of Apollo. Whilst the honeycomb cliffs of Pinara hosts nine hundred rock tombs and a theatre in verdant setting. In Fethiye, you will find ancient sites dating back to two hundred years BC, the Lycian city of Telmessos, and the rock tombs of Amyntas, as well as sarcophagi and a theatre immediately opposite the harbour, built to hold six thousand spectators, climb to the top for some fabulous sea views.
