Stay in style at the super swish Villa Tatil, nestled in the Taurus mountains of Ovacik, near Fethiye. This stunning architect designed three storey, four bedroom, four bathroom villa comfortably accommodates up to eight guests. Newly built for 2022, you will be the first guests to stay in this beautifully designed villa, decorated with contemporary minimalism in mind. Using a theme of soft dove grey and natural wood throughout, the villa is flooded with natural light and impressive views of the local mountains. Villa Tatil has its own private parking, includes complimentary air-conditioning and Wi-Fi throughout, and has its own internal security alarm system for your peace of mind.
Enter the villa at ground floor level, where you will find a spacious open-plan living area decorated with modern art and artefacts. The seating area has a large plush soft grey sofa and two matching armchairs, arranged around a circular wood coffee table and facing a flat screen smart tv. An adjacent dining area has a modern wood table which can seat up to six guests, great for indoor entertaining. A sleek and chic stainless steel and wood kitchen has all essentials for some happy holiday cooking, including a state-of-the-art oven and hob, family sized fridge freezer, a dishwasher and washing machine, and a Turkish coffee maker. There is also a very convenient guest cloakroom on this floor too.
Take the floating wooden staircase up to the first floor, where you will find two bedrooms. The master bedroom is very spacious, decorated with art-deco style furniture and art, with a built-in double bed with wood headboard, comfy armchairs and occasional tables, vanity unit and fitted wardrobes. The ensuite is minimalist wood and white, with a walk-in shower, single oval hand basin and WC. Floor to ceiling sliding doors give access to a balcony with mountain views. The second bedroom also has a built-in double bed, stylish fitted wardrobes, an ensuite shower room, and a balcony with mountain views. On the second floor there are a further two bedrooms, both set under the eaves, with large double beds, armchairs, fitted wardrobes, and ensuite shower rooms, and access to their own mountain view balconies.
Prepare to be wowed as you access the terrace from the floor to ceiling sliding doors on the ground floor. Here you will find a fabulous 9m x 4m heated swimming pool with both ladder and step access. The latest trend in sun loungers surround the pool, with parasols to give you shade from the midday sun. There’s an inviting lounge area where you can enjoy a morning coffee or meet for sundowner cocktails whilst watching the sunset over the mountains. There is an elegant eight seater table and chairs, and built-in barbeque for some alfresco dining under the sun and stars. Well tendered lawns surround the villa, where there is a shaded pergola seating area, the ideal spot to take afternoon tea. If you’re feeling lazy, take a nap in the hammock, if you’re feeling active have a game of ping-pong of the table-tennis table, and for those in need of an alfresco cocktail there’s some seriously funky bar stools hanging around too.
Villa Tatil is set in the Taurus mountains near the village of Ovacik, and within walking distance of restaurants and bars, and shops selling essentials for your stay. Dalaman international airport is a fifty-eight kilometre, forty-five-minute drive away. The villa is located betwixt and between the bustling town of Fethiye, and the tourist destinations of Hisaronu and Olu Deniz, both just fifteen minutes away. Hisaronu is a haven of supermarkets, cafes, bars, and restaurants and some super souvenir shops too.
Take a short trip to Olu Deniz, where you will find one of the world’s best golden sandy beaches, the iconic and much photographed blue lagoon and spit, lively seashore restaurants and bars, and exclusive shops. From here, you can hop aboard a water taxi to Butterfly Valley, or alternatively cross the sea to Gemile Island aka Aya Nikola, a natural protected area that is now an open-air museum. For the thrill seekers, head up the hill and take the cable car to the top of Mount Babadag, at almost two thousand metres you can jump off and paraglide solo or in tandem and land on Olu Deniz beach. For shopping and the city Fethiye is your destination. Fethiye is a smart harbour town with yachts moored the length of the coastline, home to an ancient amphitheatre, historical museum and rock tombs, and an embarkation point for the must-do Twelve Island boat trip. There is a foodie-heaven fish market for a catch of the day fabulous feast, super souvenir shops selling all of your favourite designer brands, and a renowned large local market every Tuesday. A walk around the newly paved coastline will take you to the town and beach of Calis, home to more restaurants and bars, and a local market.
If it’s history you are after, you’ve come to the right place, hike the Lycian Way and take a trip through time. Trace the past with trips to Xanthos, the ancient capital of Lycia, and home to the oldest republic in the world, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, discover mosaics, amphitheatres, agoras, and an acropolis. Walk the ancient ruins of Patara, the birthplace of St Nicholas, better known as Santa Claus, and lose yourself on its twenty kilometre sandy beach, and also home to the famous Turkish hatching turtles. Explore the rock tombs of Tlos, carved into the façade of the ancient city ruins, where you will find a necropolis, Roman baths, and an Ottoman Basilica. Head for Letoon to see the mosaic of the goddess Leto, as you wander through the Temple of Apollo. Whilst the honeycomb cliffs of Pinara hosts nine hundred rock tombs and a theatre in verdant setting. In Fethiye you will find ancient sites dating back to two hundred years BC, the Lycian city of Telmessos, and the rock tombs of Amyntas, as well as sarcophagi, and a theatre immediately opposite the harbour, built to hold six thousand spectators, climb to the top for some fabulous sea views. Bring all of this together in the Fethiye Archeological Museum, full of local history, culture, and ephemera, most notably the Trilingual Stele, excavated at Letoon and inscribed with the languages of Lycia, Ancient Greek and Aramaic.
