Country Club Lodge United Kingdom
Holiday Home Rental Description
Whether you are looking for a first-rate round of golf or simply to relax in comfort and style, the Country Club Lodge provides the perfect rural retreat for up to six guests. Set on the grounds of the Cambridge Country Club, these wooden-fronted lodges benefit from their own private terrace and hot tub, whilst guests are welcome to enjoy a range of facilities available during their stay.
The lodge holds a large open-plan living area complete with comfy sofas, an oak dining table and a modern fully, fitted kitchen. Bi-fold doors allow you to step out onto your own terrace facing the course, where you can watch the balls fly from your very own al fresco dining spot. Better still, slip into your private hot tub and relax in the bubbles as you look up to the stars with a glass of fizz in hand.
The kitchen is well-equipped with all you need for your stay with modern fittings and fixtures, including a Rangemaster oven and hob, Rangemaster double fridge freezer, microwave, dishwasher and all the utensils you will need right down to the wine glasses. Pour yourself a coffee from the machine in the morning and take in the fresh morning air through the double doors.
Sleeping accommodation is spread between a delightful master suite with a super-king bed and an en-suite boasting a deep sunken bath for a luxurious morning soak. A double and twin bedroom share a lovely bathroom with shower and WC, and all bed linens and towels, even the toiletries, are included!
On the grounds of the club, guests are welcome to use the facilities, with the 18-hole course and treatment rooms bookable for an extra cost. Why not work up a sweat in the gym, then unwind with a relaxing swim at the club pool and finish up with a sauna and steam? Take a stroll through the lovely village of Bourn or get on your bike and explore the stunning Cambridgeshire area with a wealth of architecture, shopping and natural beauty to explore.Set in the pretty village of Bourn, nestled in Southern Cambridgeshire, the lodge benefits from a peaceful rural setting. Keen walkers and cyclists will find themselves spoilt for choice on routes and pathways; we recommend trying the King College cycle Route from Lower Cambourne, a fantastic way to discover the local area and don’t forget to stop off at the village coffee shop and village pub for refreshments both on the way there and back!
Just half an hour’s drive away is the Bourn Pottery Centre, filled with local artists at work. It is a lovely way to spend an afternoon, and you and the family can get involved by trying a throwing session yourself at the wheel. If you want to soak up some local history, a trip to Duxford Imperial War Museum is a must-see. There you will find a fascinating display of aviation through the ages, getting up close and personal with gigantic aircraft and spitfires.
The historic university city of Cambridge is just twenty-five minutes away and has endless medieval and gothic architecture to explore and discover. There is a fantastic shopping selection if you want some retail therapy, or if you prefer to have a more relaxing day, then why not stroll through the stunning flora and fauna at the Cambridge University Botanical Gardens?
A trip to Cambridge shouldn’t go amiss without taking a punt on the picturesque River Cam; hire a boat at the river or allow someone else to do the steering while you sit back and bob along the water by taking one of Scudamore’s Punting Company tours for an informative trip. Pack a picnic and enjoy a lovely lunch riverside to complete your day.
While in the city, check out more local history with the Fitzwilliam Museum, which is full of art and antiquities from around the globe from Ancient Egypt, Greece and Rome, plus amazing exhibits of European pottery, glass and furniture.
