Down a long driveway, you’re completely secluded here. A big lawn surrounds the old stone farmhouse, ideal for letting the kids run free. Inside, the old bones of the building peek through a modern finish – none of the traditional features are more striking than the exposed brick fireplace in the living room. Object d’art from around the globe and a reclaimed wood coffee table adds a touch of the bohemian and antique dressers and gilded mirrors feel as though they’ve stood here for centuries.
The kitchen’s flagstone floor is pure country aesthetic, warmed by the purr of an AGA cooker, and the wooden island wouldn’t look out of place in an old-world apothecary. Two of the bathrooms boast big soaking tubs, so you can unwind after a day exploring country lanes and walking trails. The town of Bruton is a ten-minute drive away where you’ll find local shops, pubs (we recommend The Bradley Hare) and a train station. Hauser & Wirth Somerset Arts Centre can be reached in fifteen minutes by car, and the stunning landscape gardens of Stourhead House are ten minutes down the road.
