Entering the apartment up a flight of stairs, you’ll be instantly wowed by this pristine interior. You’ll find a living room, cosy and compact, with a double sofa bed and TV, and a gorgeous dining table seating up to 6 guests. Decorated in a traditional Portuguese style, comforting shades of blue, grey and white give the apartment and airy and spacious atmosphere, making you feel as though you are by the seaside. To the side of the living room, you’ll also find a spacious desk and laptop friendly workspace, should you need to contemplate the thought of work while you’re here!Sleek and fully equipped, the kitchen is an inviting space for you to prepare a morning or evening meal in, with a minimalistic, white interior and elegant greenery adorning the sides. Upstairs, you’ll find another double sofa bed for two guests, an added convenience!
Also located on the 1st floor is the master double bedroom, tucked away for some added privacy. Decorated in a similar style to the living room, you’ll find a lavishly comfortable Queen-size bed, complete with crisp linen and traditional artwork charmingly adoring the wall behind. Finally, you’ll find a decent-sized bathroom with a spacious shower, sink and toilet.
Another top feature of Apartment Mae is the small balcony, intimately tucked away on the first floor, and complete with a table and two chairs. You’ll love popping out here on a gorgeous summer morning, enjoying a coffee and slow, leisurely morning, or a cooling cocktail before venturing out for a delicious dinner at a local seafood restaurant. Located in the rich and vibrant neighborhood of Belém, you’ll enjoy gorgeous views of the scenery and harbour, with the serene buzz of this peaceful city district making you feel as calm and relaxed as you should feel on any holiday! You’ll find Apartment Mae in the colourful and vibrant neighborhood of Belém, in the west of Lisbon. It takes around 1 hour to get here from the airport, and you can take the train, bus, or taxi. Known for its delicious seafood restaurants and historical monuments, Belém is a slightly quieter neighbourhood, ideal for those wanting to stay a little further out of the bustling heart of Lisbon.
History lovers will be delighted with this authentic spot. Within walking distance of your apartment, you’ll find the MATT, the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology. The architecture is simply astonishing, and it’s one of the most visited museums in the country, so we recommend a trip if you’re interested. Perhaps the most well-known historical monuments in the area are the Belem Tower and the Jeronimos Monastery. Both famous UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the Belem Tower was built in the 16th century and was once used as a fortress to protect Lisbon’s harbour. You can climb the tower experience some mesmerising views of the Tagus River and the entire city. Also impressively constructed in the 16th century, the Jeronimos Monastery features intricate Gothic architecture and a rich cultural history, and is well worth a visit as you’re so nearby.
Take advantage of your serene location, enjoying a family picnic in one of the neighbourhood’s many parks, wandering through the tree-lined plazas, or taking a scenic riverside stroll. When you fancy a bite to eat, who doesn’t love a sweet treat? Lisbon is renowned for its delicious custard tarts. Get an authentic taste of Portuguese culture and cuisine at the Pastel de Belem.
You can use the convenient metro system to easily and affordably explore the city. It takes around 40 minutes to cross the city and visit some of its other most popular and lively neighbourhoods. You could visit Bairro Alto, a fantastic spot for young couples of friends wanting a taste of Lisbon’s bohemian scene. It’s particularly renowned for showcasing some of Lisbon’s finest street art. The historic downtown of Lisbon, Baixa is also certainly worth a visit. It boasts some stunning architecture and historical landmarks, including the Praça do Comércio. Surrounded by picturesque yellow buildings, and located near the Tagus River, this is the perfect place to enjoy a stroll along the riverbank.
Lisbon is a truly eclectic city with something on offer with every interest, budget, and age. Its historical charm emanates from its pretty cobbled streets and traditional architecture, which you can see in Alfama, the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon. However, Lisbon is also a trailblazer of modernity, boasting many upmarket shopping centres, lively nightlife, and a delicious gastronomy scene. It’s particularly well known for its fresh seafood, grilled meats, and delicious pastries, however there also plenty of other choices for veggies too. Wine lovers are also in luck, as the most popular choices include the traditional Vinho Verde and Port wine.
While you’ll surely be spoilt for choice with the variety of activities and sightseeing that Lisbon has to offer, you could take a trip to the picturesque coastal towns of Cascais and Estoril if you fancy a day trip further afield. Known for their pretty beaches and charming villages, you can enjoy a leisurely afternoon here, basking in the sun with a good book. You really get the best of both worlds here; a bustling city experience, laced with a more relaxing and slow-paced seaside atmosphere.
