On Folly’s Island’s quiet West Side, this typically South Carolinian home puts the beach on your doorstep. It’s a two-minute walk to the ocean and there’s an outdoor shower to wash sandy feet on your return. Heading into Folly Beach town is just a five-minute drive where you’ll find surf shops, laid-back beach cafés and chi chi little galleries.
The home itself is tucked into the trees, with nothing but forest and marshways behind it. There are verandas with rocking chairs to listen to the chirp of crickets at night and a brilliantly bright screened-in porch surrounded by glass on all sides to enjoy the sun. The living room is a huge, open-plan spot, combined with the kitchen and dining area for social evenings inside. Hardwood floors and pristine white walls feel authentically Old South and there’s a fabulous four-poster bed in the master bedroom. Should you need to work remotely, there’s a dedicated laptop desk too. The real surprise is the huge room at the top of the spiral staircase with its double-height ceiling, streaming sunlight and yoga mats for a salutation to the sun.
