Life in the Pyrenees mountains might not quite be what you’re used to. While world-class ski slopes and rugged trails create an exciting network of activities to keep you busy in the wilderness, the town of Vielha is also less than a four-hour drive to the sun-soaked city of Barcelona. The bright, warm weather of northern Catalonia permeates through the character of this mountain abode, around a ten-mine stroll into the old town and the beautiful church of Sant Miquèu.
Set over four storeys, this traditional home manages to feel both cosy and spacious at the same time. This is mainly thanks to the rich, warm tones of wooden beams and ceilings throughout (which seem particularly striking as part of the apex ceiling of the top floor). Rustic and original, these look fabulous in contrast to a bright-orange, modern corner sofa and glass sliding doors to the terrace.
Every morning, we recommend taking your morning espresso out here to savour the spectacular mountain views. After that, head down to your private ski storage to fetch your gear for a day of snowsports. And when you get back, the outdoor grill is waiting for your return with some fresh, local fare from the butcher in tow.
