Rent Apartment Laurel Java Devon
Holiday Home Rental Description
One of the underlying principles of modernist architecture is that form should function and that’s certainly the case with this South Devon address. Constructed in 1962 by an architect who wanted a family home, you can see that everything has gone into making it a relaxing space. Huge windows line the living room and face a peaceful body of water called Mill Pond. As well as allowing for a spectacular view, these huge walls of glass bathe the interior in natural light. There’s a prevalence of timber in the decor and a couple of knowingly retro touches can be spotted, especially in some of the bold feature walls and leather recliners dotted about. In 2017, the property was treated to a bit of TLC — insulation and underfloor heating were added, and the bathrooms and appliances were updated — but all changes were kept faithful to the original design. The exterior is pretty impressive, too. Out the back, there’s a large enclosed garden with a patio and a barbecue, while there’s also more seating at the front, too. Connecting these two spaces is a wildflower area running down the side of the house, which comes alive with colour in the spring. Don’t worry if you’re visiting outside of this season, as there’s plenty more to be wowed by in the surrounding South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, including Elberry Cove seventeen minutes’ drive away. The local village of Stoke Gabriel also has a pair of pubs and cafes.
