Each has its own living room, kitchen and private patio, which give visiting parties that little bit of added flexibility. The interior design is similar in both, with a pleasing mix of the old and new — we’re talking wooden ceiling beams next to sleek white kitchens and pristine bathrooms. If you’re here during the winter months, there’s a wood-burner in each house, but if the sunshine makes an appearance, there’s a private tennis court on the premises that guests are welcome to use. Further afield, Captain’s Wood nature reserve can be reached in half an hour on foot — or three minutes in the car — while Aldeburgh Beach is seventeen minutes’ drive away.

*Upon request, the host might be able to set up a sofa bed in one of the cottages to sleep an extra two guests
*The tennis court is open seasonally and needs to be requested — guests should also bring their own balls and racquets
*A starter supply of firewood for the log burners is provided and more is available to purchase on-site
*The king-size beds can be arranged as twins if preferred
*One well-behaved dog is allowed as long as it’s kept on a lead in the garden — they will incur an additional fee of £5 per day
