Palazzo Di Marconi Italy
Holiday Home Rental Description
Palazzo Di Marconi is a converted Episcopal monastery, standing high above the bay of Positano, now offering one of the most luxurious catered villa experiences on the market.
Positano is a picturesque hillside settlement, located along ancient trading routes to the East, where merchants were captivated by the town that clung magically to the hillside and subsequently they filled it with precious imports, enlisting the help of famous artists to decorate. This heritage endured the poverty of the world wars and is visible throughout Palazzo Di Marconi, in the painted ceilings, lacquered doors, in-laid wood furniture and ancient lace.
Spread across four floors, you can enter the house at several points, crossing the terraces and delighting in the smells of orange and lemon trees. These fruits are served as marmalade and orange juice with the inclusive breakfast, served by the dedicated staff who are available throughout the day.
Among the many priceless features of this property is the huge indoor Spa area that offers many specialist treatments and features a fountain, heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi, evocative of a magnificent Roman bath.
The houses of Positano are only connected by steep old stone stairs, meaning no gabbling clusters of tourists, or clunking road traffic; just the reassuring sound of the tide gently melting into the pebbled shore.
Positano achieved fame among artists and musicians in the second half of twentieth century, particularly after John Steinbeck visited in 1953, drawing inspiration from this very property he wrote in Harper’s Bazaar: “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone.”These poignant words ring just as true today, as you will see when falling for the charms of Palazzo di Marconi; a property that offers a unique experience of luxury like no other in the world. The distance from Naples airport is 60 minutes or less, by taxi or rented car.
The city centre is 10 minutes from the villa on foot, and there are many restaurants, shops, grocery shops etc
Palazzo di Marconi is perched on the highest point of Positano, almost directly above the sea. From here, guests are rewarded with magnificent views of the coast, the center of Positano, and the islands of Galli.
At Palazzo di Marconi you are situated just 15 minutes walk from the beach, and a healthy 150 steps from the road. These trips can of course be aided with the services of a luggage porter.
Positano lives as cluster of colorful cottages and steep, cobbled lanes clinging to the rocky coast. A maze of little alleys, stairways and squares which suddenly opens up to reveal the shimmering turquoise sea.
From the peaceful hills to the buzzing beach, Positano is one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of Italy, at its best when viewed from the terraces of Villa Elario.
Positano’s Beaches
Spiaggia Grande
In the center of Positano, this is, as the name suggests, the biggest beach in town. It’s the most glamorous too: home to numerous bars, restaurants and beach clubs.
Fornillo
You can walk to Fornillo from Positano’s Spiaggia Grande, via the “Lovers’ Walk”. Nestled in a bay, this little beach is surprisingly quiet and peaceful.
Secret beaches
Positano’s rocky coastline is home to dozens of hidden beaches, which can only be reached from the sea. If you want to explore them, we’ll arrange a boat for you.
A Boat Trip
