The pebbly beach, crystal-clear waters and waterfront eateries at the local marina are less than a kilometre away. Water sports such as diving, snorkelling and kayaking can be enjoyed from the harbour, or boat trips will take you along the scenic coastline from Positano to Capri. Walks through the Punta Campanella Natural Marine Reserve start virtually from your door, and day trips to Sorrento (18km) are just over half-an-hour’s drive away.
Villa Ralemina’s interior is bright, airy and modern. Your contemporary kitchen is well equipped and ideally situated for serving meals to both your indoor dining table and outdoor terrace. There are two, beautifully decorated bedrooms, one of which boasts direct access to the gardens and terraces, for that unhurried morning coffee and night cap before bed.
Step outside and discover your charming lawned garden and canopy-covered dining terrace and outdoor kitchen. The exposed stone and whitewashed walls give this shaded corner of Villa Ralemina a quaint, country feel. With a backdrop of flowering plants and Mediterranean trees, this is your spot for leisurely lunches and al fresco dinners. A pathway leads to your private pool, which is big enough for splashing, playing and cooling-off against the hot, Italian sun. Inviting loungers with a view of the sea complete the scene for blissful holiday moments.
For the very best seat in the house at sunset, you need to move to the upper terrace. With a relaxed seating area and yet more sun beds, your vista across the sea and bay, as the sun goes down, will take your breath away. Villa Ralemina sits in the outskirt of a pretty hamlet where you’ll find a shop, café, restaurants and charming main square. A short walk from here will bring you to the marina; a pebbly but delightful beach for lazy days soaking up the sun, swimming in the sheltered sea, snorkeling, and relaxed lunches at beachfront restaurants. If you want to explore more of the coast, you can either hire kayaks and paddle boards or book a boat trip. Venturing as far as Positano, further up the Amalfi Coast and Isle of Capri, on the other side of the peninsula, you’ll discover hidden coves, forgotten bays and beautiful coastal scenery.
For adventure on foot, pick up a trail which starts from the main square. It will take you two kilometres downhill, to a stunning protected bay. Rest your legs and enjoy a picnic on the beach, whilst feasting your eyes on the views of Capri Island and the rocks of Faraglioni. Then brace yourself for the trek back up to Villa Ralemina!
You may need to plan more than one day trip to Sorrento, allowing for a visit to the magical Island of Capri. Ferries leave the port in Sorrento every day throughout the summer months. From Marina Grande, take the funicular up to the centre of the island, and watch the Italian world go by in the Piazzetta. If you want to ride to the top of Mount Solaro, take the chair lift from Anacapri’s Piazza Vittoria and enjoy the short ride through the air (not recommended for young children).
Back across the water in Sorrento, if you’re short on time and want to soak up the atmosphere of this wonderful town, head to Piazza Tasso.
