Just a short drive from Van Gogh’s beloved city of Arles, this bright and contemporary home is a joyful place to stay for your Provençal adventures.
Inside light pours in to the open-plan living and dining space where you will find stylish furnishings, a cool kitchen and doors opening up to the outside grounds. There are three charming bedrooms, each with their own shower room and each decorated with discreet yet refined palettes.
Step outside to the glorious gardens where you can dip into the dazzling swimming pool, dine al-fresco in the warmth of the afternoon sun or relax in the shade. There are some beautiful plants amongst the palm and olive trees, making this spot a Provençal delight.
Just fifteen minutes by car, Van Gogh’s precious Arles is a wonderful city with a rich historical past, well known for its incredible architecture and fascinating Roman remains. Arles has strong connections to Vincent Van Gogh who painted over 500 works in the city he adored; you can follow Van Gogh trails around the city. Arles is also great for museums and galleries, amazing restaurants and there is a great market on a Saturday morning.
Heading to Les Alpilles Natural Park, within a short drive you will find Les Baux de Provence, a unique and incredible place classified as one of France’s Plus Beaux Villages. St-Rémy and Avignon are also within easy reach whilst the mesmerising Luberon region and the wonderful Camargue can also be visited in a day.
Whether exploring the local markets, cycling through lavender fields or hiking through the magnificent countryside, this region is sure to offer memorable activities for all ages. That said, you may prefer to simply spend your time relaxing in the lovely gardens and by the inviting pool of this charming Provençal home.Villa Espace is located just outside Arles (8km), about 15 minutes by car, near the fascinating elevated Canal de Craponne. Saint-Martin-de-Crau (14km) is around a 20-minute drive away.
With a rich historical past, Arles is well known for its incredible architecture and fascinating Roman remains. It is also famous for its connections to Vincent Van Gogh who managed to paint over 500 works during his relatively short time in the city he loved so much.
The city is full of museums and galleries and there is a great market on a Saturday morning. Food lovers will also appreciate the wonderful dining opportunities from pavement cafes to fine food establishments.
This is a great location for being so close to the beautiful Les Alpilles Natural Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty and idyllic villages and towns. One example is famous St-Rémy (26km), well known for being popular with artists, many who live in the area and display or sell their works of art in the village’s art galleries. The town is also famous for its many restaurants, from down to earth bistros found on pretty narrow streets to Michelin starred establishments and food lovers shouldn’t miss the market on a Wednesday morning!
Also in the heart of Les Alpilles, Les Baux de Provence (18km), classified as one of France’s Plus Beaux Villages, is in a unique and incredible setting in the rock of the surrounding landscape. Explore the pretty squares, narrow streets and little shops, then wander around the fortified-chateau. Those who are more adventurous can find some beautiful walking trails around the village and beyond or simply head to the surrounding vineyards and olive groves to sample some of the fine produce of the region. Don’t miss the fine olive oils just south in Mausanne (14km), some of the best in the country, and Mausanne’s weekly market on a Thursday morning.
Those looking for activity have so much on their doorstep. There is both horse-riding and golf within a short drive and the surrounding countryside is a walkers and cyclists paradise with stunning landscapes. There are plenty of family friendly activities throughout the region from model railways, open castles to trekking across the tree tops and visiting a zoo.
Not forgetting the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of the Camargue, which is just a short drive away. A beautiful melange of land, lagoon and sea with pink flamingos, wild white horses, rice fields and endless wild countryside and beaches, this natural park covers 900 square kilometres of land.
