Binibeca Blau Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
A delightful, fresh villa by the sea, Binibeca Blau is part of the Binibeca Bay collection and perfect for those who love to be beside the seaside. The exteriors are designed in an interesting structure – the inner section has glass walls, while the outer part is whitewashed with traditional pillars. There is a narrow turquoise plunge pool encapsulated by a lush lawn on three sides, the perfect spot to cool down from the Menorcan sunshine. However, for those who want to soak up the sun in style, head to the sundeck, where you will find a bubbling jacuzzi.
There are plenty of spots to enjoy the weather, from the row of sunbeds to the furnished porch with bamboo sofas and matching day beds. It’s easy to weave in and out of the living space and kitchen, thanks to the glass doors. Drawing inspiration from the sea, the living room is supremely spacious, with distressed wood floors and plush cream sofas. A pair of statement paint-splatter armchairs add a modern twist, while a hessian rug ties all the natural elements together.
There are beautiful views of the sweeping garden scenery from the open-plan living space. The dining table is stylish black, with frame-style chairs with open backs. The kitchen is one of the most beautiful rooms in the house, with teal and deep green cupboards and fresh white walls. You’ll find everything you need for self-catering, including an oven. A glossy breakfast bar with wicker bar stools is the perfect spot to perch and enjoy a bite to eat.
Some of the bedrooms lead directly to the sundeck, as does one of the bathrooms, which are designed in chic white or honey marble, with powerful showers and dual sinks. Two bedrooms are downstairs, and two are on the upper floor. Three of the rooms have double beds, while one of the ground floor bedrooms has a single.
Minimal in style and following the tones of the sea, there are feature walls in sage green and patterned floral headboards. Green valances add a splash of colour, while soft watercolour art adorns the walls. Lots of natural light streams in through the floor to ceiling windows, adding to the relaxing atmosphere.
This villa is part of a brand-new collection called Binibeca Bay, just moments from the Balearic Sea. The Binibeca Vell area is a remodelled fishing village that was restored carefully in 1972. It is made up of holiday apartments, a labyrinth of charming streets with limestone houses. Binibeca is backed with a nature reserve and sand dunes and looks over an uninhabited island called Illa de l’Aire, which has a famous lighthouse.
Menorca as a whole enjoys a more leisurely feel and a slower pace than some of the other Balearic Islands. However, there’s plenty of activities on the island, as well as 99 beaches to discover. There are several water parks, a lovely harbour and many opportunities to observe local wildlife. Menorca is also home to excellent tapas and a famous gin called Xoriguer.
The island’s capital, Mahon, has a famous gin distillery where you can take a tour and sample unusual flavours. Descend the steps to the charming harbour, where guests can explore cafes, boutiques and restaurants. A nice souvenir to pick up would be some locally-made avarcas sandals, as Menorca is known for shoemaking. You could also take a one-hour boat trip, which gives you a unique view of the island – some boats have glass bottoms so guests can go marine-life spotting.
Binibeca beach is made up of a warm, shallow bay and a gently sloping ribbon of white sand, set against a backdrop of cliffs made from volcanic rock and a lush pine forest. There are rocks for snorkelling around, and kayaks can be rented here. In the same area, there are also four other smaller coves – Biniancolla, Binisafuller, Biniparratx and Binidali. This beach has a great diving school where you can explore an underwater shipwreck.
Just a short drive away is the Calas Coves, with lapis-coloured water framed by picturesque cliffs. Or, for a more adventurous beach, visit the island’s best-kept secret, Cala Escorxada. It can be reached by a one-hour hike from Santo Tomas. Follow the coastal route to be rewarded with pristine sands, dazzling turquoise water and far fewer people than other beaches in the area.
Those who enjoy hiking will enjoy a trip up to El Toro, Menorca’s highest peak. To reach the summit, there is a moderate 2-hour hike that most people can manage. Thrillseekers can try paragliding above the island for unrivalled views and an unforgettable experience. Glide in tandem with an experienced instructor back to the ground.
For an opportunity to get up close to Menorca’s wildlife, don’t miss Jeep Safari Menorca. Local guides take groups of passengers in 4x4s around the backroads and hidden corners of the island to look for animals in their natural habitat, like the black Menorquin horse. It’s also an excellent way to learn more about local life. The island was made a Biosphere resort in 1993, which ensures that its natural beauty is protected. Menorquins proudly take exceptional care of their island and its biodiversity.
