Bembe Barbados
Holiday Home Rental Description
Arriving at Bembe, guests will enter an enchanting world of peerless comfort, timeless elegance and quintessential Bajan hospitality. This home has been impeccably restored with both care and charisma, offering a majestic façade of dazzling whites and Plantation-style architecture along with stylish outdoor living.
Set regally on a craggy, cliff-side spot on the island’s South-Eastern Coast with sparkling ocean views at every turn, Bembe blends the very best of a tranquil self-contained home and the indulgence of almost next-door top resort level amenities. Executed with architectural panache, this home fuses local raw materials, ornate decorative flair and touches of ‘rock and roll’ decadence.
Outdoor and indoor living interplay seamlessly at Bembe, with layers of sunny terraces, chic pool-side deck, romantic cliff-edge pavilion and roof lounge offering dramatic views. Guests will be able to sit back on one of the elegant day-beds after a refreshing morning swim in the 40-foot infinity swimming pool, or enjoy a mouth-watering Chef prepared meal in the shaded breeze of the pretty pergola, or even an evening cocktail in the hot tub whilst the sun softens across the open sea-scape.
Five bedrooms (the fifth one is optional) comprise three King size beds, one Queen and Twin bedrooms (can also be a King), offering airy, lavishly proportioned space for nine guests. Each bedroom has its own en-suite, and guests can rest in the knowledge that all the contemporary touches are in place; air-conditioning, HD satellite television and DVD for when downtime calls.
This classic home unfolds with serene, tastefully finished interiors hallmarked by the use of cool marble, gloss-polished mahogany furniture and a genteel brand of glamour: roll top antique desk, oil paintings, sedate armchairs. There is a charming note of stately ceremony, the offer of formal dining or low-key living – a blend of Bajan ease and Colonial luxury.
The bedrooms offer crisp cotton linens, lavish four poster beds, gilded frames and all the comfort of a boutique hotel, whilst the white-washed timber adds a note of local Bajan flavour. A spacious kitchen of granite, marble and mahogany provides top-range appliances and all necessities at guests’ disposal, whether it be for a simple toddler snack or a rocking pool party (outdoor speaker system on hand!)
Executed with flawless attention to detail, Bembe (meaning ‘rhythm’) aptly harmonises with its surrounding crashing waves and swaying palm trees, taking a mix of influences to create a place where memories are made, not to be forgotten. Bembe is superbly located on the South-Eastern Coast of Barbados, next to the Crane Hotel Resort, a matter of moments from a local-style convenience store (walkable) and only a little further to markets, supermarkets and the airport (all between seven- and ten-minutes’ drive.)
Barbados is an independent Caribbean island known for its melting pot of traditions and customs, for vibrant local life, rich rum and sugar plantation history, and, of course, some of the world’s finest beaches. Bembe is within walking distance to Foul Bay and Crane Beach; the latter has won international recognition for its natural beauty; protected by a natural coral reef, it offers elegant parasols and loungers and a gentle incline to the azure waters.
The Crane Resort offers everything from rum cocktails at the bar to award-winning Thai cuisine or local Bajan fare. A culinary experience here takes influences from African, Caribbean, West Indian and European gastronomy for something a little unique.
Brighton Farmer’s market takes place every Saturday, whilst an annual attraction is the Crop Over Festival; a six-week extravaganza of night-long parties, crafts and street foodie delights, celebrating a 200-year-old tradition honouring the end of the sugar can season.
The island’s capital is Bridgetown (half an hour’s drive); starting from the National Heroes Square with its Lord Nelson statue visitors can explore, shop and meander on foot. Bajan architecture will delight creative types; a fusion of old and new, vividly coloured chattel houses with fancy gables and trimmed in gingerbread fretwork, or, coral stone clad grand homes with manicured gardens and open verandas.
Known for its rum tradition, started circa 370 years ago, the island is brimming with tours of the world’s oldest rum (Mount Gay Rum Centre being the most known – visitors will be able to indulge in traditional Bajan rum punch!)
Water sports enthusiasts will be in their element, from sailing to snorkelling, jet-skiing to kite-surfing, Barbados has it all. One of the greatest delights of this island is boarding the sparkling waters for a catamaran cruise, along with a decadent buffet meal and drinks. A prestigious golf club is just fifteen minutes away, whilst horse racing and polo are very popular on the island.
St Nicholas Abbey is a magical, mystical spot, in the hills of St. Peter, offering over 400 acres of lush tropical overgrowth, impeccably manicured gardens, mahogany forests and undulating sugar cane fields.
Barbados is a place of contrasts, from movie-star hedonism to cane-cutting village life and artisanal fare; from fishing villages to dramatic, rugged Atlantic coastlines – visitors will enjoy a vivacious diversity within a very accessibly-sized island. A unique blend of vivid local life and colonial-influenced afternoon teas alongside cricket matches on the green! At Excellence Luxury Villas we pride ourselves on going that little bit further for our guests.
