The spectacular, brand new Villa Tamariu is situated in a fantastic spot in Aigua Gelida, close to Begur, with fantastic sea views. With 4 contemporary bedrooms, the villa sleeps 8 guests. Begur is a chic summer spot, just a short step off the beaten track. It is slightly inland and offers a fantastic spread of gastronomic fare at its unique and charming restaurants. 

The beaches are very close by and are fabulous, some sandy and others, secret, romantic coves. Begur is a colourful and exuberant town with narrow streets, Moorish and Spanish architecture topped with a crumbling Medieval castle. Neoclassical mansions sit together with fishermen’s huts and quirky bistros. This area of Spain is shrugging off the association with package tourism and providing guests with different and stylish experiences. 

Villa Tamariu is contemporary and very streamlined, inside and out. The open plan living, dining and kitchen space is modern with stylish furnishings. It leads onto a large, sunny terrace with covered alfresco dining and the most fantastic views out to sea. There is also a small pantry and a guest bathroom on the ground floor. 

A very modern staircase takes you to the first floor where you will find the 4 fabulous bedrooms. The master bedroom has a wall of glass to make the most of the delightful views and an ensuite shower room. Another double room also enjoys excellent sea views. It shares a bathroom with one of the twin rooms. The final twin has an ensuite bathroom. The villa is minimalistic in its design. The bathrooms are all pristine with walk-in showers. 

The garden and pool are located at the back of the house and are reached from the first floor. The beautiful Mediterranean garden has a splendid terrace overlooking the sea, a superb chill-out area with alfresco dining and a small summer kitchen. The pool is absolutely lovely. The views of Aigua Gelida, Cap de Begur and the stunning beach of Aiguablava are incredible. You simply cannot fail to relax at Villa Tamariu. It is stylish, tasteful and extremely comfortable. 

This region of the Costa Brava is far less bucket and spade and more style by the bucketload, coupled with superior dining. You may be eating fresh lobster under a plane tree watching the fairy lights twinkle or enjoying a glass of wine at a stellar restaurant with a classic Catalan dish, and you will find it hard to believe you are in the Costa Brava of old with sunburned tourists, all-day breakfasts and rowdy nightlife. It is chic, upmarket and polished. 

The golden coves of Sa Tuna, Sa Riera and Aiguablava, are sublime with unparalleled beauty and crystalline water. They lie beneath the hills sprinkled with architect-designed houses. It’s a great spot for divers with a few dive centres found in the area including Begur Dive, Diving Costa Brava, Gymsub Aiguablava and Begur Boats. 

Beyond Begur, the orange landscape stretches to little Medieval towns and villages and gorgeous vineyards. You can meander from town to town, stopping for tapas and wine in the shady little bars. Cycling on the quiet roads is easy. Little towns such as Regencos and Pubol are beautiful. The centrepiece of Pubol is the castle Salvador Dali bought for his Russian wife Gala. 

The crumbling castle is surrounded by pomegranate and fig trees and elephant statues. You can marvel at Gala’s 1960’s couture dresses. The Dali Triangle also includes the picturesque whitewashed village of Port Lligat and Dali’s amazing Theatre-Museum in Figueres. Art lovers will also enjoy the Museum of Modern Art at Ceret where you can see the works of Matisse and Picasso. 

The gorgeous town of Palafrugell is close by with lovely beaches and a colourful, vibrant Sunday morning market. There is also a daily market, several good deli shops plus good supermarkets including Lidl and Carrefour. 
It is only a 50-minute drive to Girona and 90 minutes to Barcelona, so these are fantastic options for outings while staying at Villa Tamariu.
