Villa Bassetes Spain
Holiday Home Rental Description
Villa Bassetes is a comfortable villa for 8 guests in the La Fustera district, between the lovely resorts of Moraira and Calpe. It is a quiet resort with a lovely beach and a number of excellent bars and restaurants. Villa Bassetes is just 700m away from the beach. Moraira is 8.5km away and is picturesque and charming with cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, a vibrant marina lined with fabulous restaurants, excellent beaches and plenty of entertainment.
Calpe is one of the hotspots on the Costa Brava with stunning beaches dominated by the incredible Rock of Ifach, lively nightlife and an authentic old town full of Gothic churches, Roman ruins and plenty of tapas bars. There is an amazing coastal walk from Moraira to Calpe where you will enjoy incredible views of the turquoise sea and the dramatic coastline.
The villa is pretty traditional in its decor and design. The floors are all tiled, as are the bathrooms. The living and dining room is spacious and open plan with arched doorways, an open fireplace and lots of light. The kitchen is bright and well-equipped. There is a double bedroom downstairs with a queen-size bed, and there is a separate bathroom. Upstairs there are three further bedrooms which are all twins. There is plenty of room. The bathroom, like the one downstairs, has a coloured suite.
The living area opens onto the terrace and swimming pool. The pool is lovely and 8m x 4m. There are some sun loungers to top up your holiday tan and beyond the pool area is another terrace with a brick-built barbecue and covered alfresco dining. There are quite a number of trees planted on the borders of the plot so the garden and terrace is private and peaceful, even though it is so close to the beach. The villa is also very close to a supermarket and bars and restaurants.
La Fustera beach is a delightful place to spend the day on the Benissa Costa. There are stunning views when walking the coastal path from Moraira to Calpe, particularly of the Ifach Rock when looking towards Calpe. The clifftops are covered in local coastal pine so there are divine fragrances when walking. The beach is served by a lovely restaurant plus there is a picnic area. The beach can get busy during the peak summer holidays so it is best to arrive early.
If you want a change from La Fustera beach, there are plenty more in both directions. Towards Moraira you can visit Ampolla, Portet, Platgetes, Moraig and Portitxolet beaches, some of which are quite hidden rocky coves and other sandy beaches. Towards Calpe you can visit Playa de la Fossa, El Raco and the largest of the Calpe beaches Playa del Arenal Bol. Cala de Morello is particularly special as it is home to the Roman remains Banos de la Reina. Children love to paddle and explore the rock pools among the ruins.
Moraira was once an old fishing town which is evident when you meander through the cobbled streets past the whitewashed houses. It is now an upmarket, picturesque resort with a selection of sandy and rocky beaches, all against a backdrop of the majestic mountains. You will enjoy spectacular views of the coastline from the lookout tower near the Cap d’Or. You should visit during the colourful Friday market when you can buy local produce as well as clothes, leather goods and ceramics. Moraira’s delightful marina is lined by chic fish restaurants and bars.
In Calpe the promenade is always a hive of activity with many restaurants, cafes, bars and shops. You will find that historic traditions blend harmoniously with a modern, buzzing tourist industry in Calpe. The old quarter is protected by the old walls which were constructed in the 15th century to keep the pirates out. The narrow, atmospheric, cobbled streets, decorated stairs and magnificent murals add to the charm.
The church known as Islesia Vieja is well worth visiting, the only remaining example of Mudejar-Gothic architecture within Valencia. There is also a Museum of Archeology and a Fiestas Museum. Calpe’s fish auction is a must-see when visiting. It is a longstanding local fishermen’s tradition at 5 pm.
