Upstairs, you have three stylish bedrooms. The master bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with shower and a balcony, while the other two bedrooms have the use of a family bathroom with bathtub. An additional WC can be found downstairs.
You won’t need to rely on a car to get about the local area, with many amenities and beaches within walking distance. There are many restaurants and bars in the centre of Protaras, and the resort also offers facilities for water-sports. Children can enjoy attractions including a small aquarium and a mini-golf course.
If you do want to venture further, you’ll find the stunning Cape Greco National Park around 10 minutes’ drive away, incorporating sea caves, a blue lagoon and areas of forest that are perfect for walking. Nearby Ayia Napa hosts children’s fun parks, clubs and all sorts of restaurants, as well as a water-park and marina. With its coast lined with numerous unforgettable beaches, south-eastern Cyprus is unmissable. With highlights including the Cape Greco Peninsula and National Forest Park, it’s a place of natural beauty and contrast, and offers great nightlife and entertainment in the likes of Ayia Napa and Larnaca.
Famed for its wondrous Blue Lagoon, the stunning Cape Greco has become a popular haunt for water-sports lovers, with snorkelling, off-boat swimming and cliff diving from the area’s dramatic sea caves among popular pursuits.
The peninsula which juts out of Cyprus’ bottom-right corner forms part of the Cape Greco National Park, and the area also offers some wonderful hiking opportunities. Various routes have been planned out, so you don’t miss any of the best bits, with a focus on seeing local wildlife and historic monuments. The Aphrodite Trail is one such route which incorporates Cape Greco.
Cyprus’ go-to for beach life, Protaras is just a short drive north of Cape Greco, and has become a popular resort. Many wonderful beaches line the coast – Turtle Bay, Green Bay and Konnos Beach among them. You will find lots of opportunities to try various water-sports, such as scuba-diving, kayaking and jet-skiing, as well as organised areas for sunbathing. Perhaps the best known of them all, Fig Tree Bay has been voted one of the best beaches in Europe. If it’s too crowded, try quieter alternatives such as Agia Triada or Serena Bay.
Protaras is used to visitors, and there are lots of activities aimed at tourists. Boat trips and catamaran cruises are a nice way to explore the coast, or you can join organised food or wine tours which take you up into the mountains to try out the best local delicacies. For general dining, the main strip in Protaras has plenty of restaurants, cafés and bars.
Near-neighbour Ayia Napa is known for its nightlife, but less known for its other offerings. If you’ve never been, you might be surprised to find this legendary clubbing mecca is also a great resort for families, with amusement parks, a water-park, casual dining restaurants and beach playgrounds. It also has some historic sights, like its 16th-century monastery and ancient Makronissos Tombs, and points of cultural interest including a sculpture park.
About 35 minutes’ drive west of Protaras, you’ll find the CyHerbia Botanical Park, which is a wonderfully fragrant place to discover, complete with a maze. Travel on to Cyprus’ third-largest city, Larnaca, and you’ll find it has many pretty spots of its own, like Patticheio and the adjacent Salt Lake. The marina, medieval fort and the Church of Saint Lazarus are among this lively city’s other high points.
