Replete with the warmth of the countryside (and an extra dose of character), this castle in Ireland is the wedding venue of your dreams. The castle’s dining room can hold an intimate banquet for 30, while the great barn can accommodate 40-150 guests for dinner, dancing and drinks. If needed there are two additional houses – the Coach House and the Garden Flat – that, rented together, sleep 10 additional guests.
The castle dates back to 1420, but has been beautifully refreshed with eclectic artwork and decor (Dave, your host, is a furniture maker). The vaulted ceiling of the kitchen may be original, but the appliances are all contemporary. Children will be in heaven here – the castle is stocked with games, books, and baby supplies. There’s a playground outside, and even two pet donkeys to get to know.
Causey Farm is nearby, where the family can learn a little about Irish farm culture. Though this holiday castle is in a rural wonderland, it’s surprisingly accessible: the nearby tiny town of Bohermeen (1.5 km) has a walkable pub and restaurant. Dublin is but a 45 minute drive away, making this family castle an accessible choice for your next splendid gathering. 
The house is 3 1/2 miles from Navan, located in the market town in the Boyne Valley. There is a good fruit/vegetable/knick-knack market there every Friday. There are lots of pubs with Irish music and superb Guinness. The famous Causey Farm is also nearby, where guests can learn to shear a sheep, bake a loaf and dance a jig.
Meath’s biggest asset is Tara, New Grange and Lough Crew, boasting structures older than the Pyramids. Westmeath is amazing for walks and hill strolls. Wild and catch & release fishing are all available. Festivals in the summer in Ireland are huge. There are Music, Literary, Poetry and Pop festivals nonstop in the summer.
Dublin is only 45 minutes away.
