La Dame Blanche France
Holiday Home Rental Description
La Dame Blanche is a modern, tranquil villa in the outskirts of the town of Cassis in the South of France. Located in the heart of the French Riviera yet less crowded than some of the larger towns, Cassis is an idyllic holiday location.
Nestled amongst mature pine trees, close to a few other homes, you will discover this gorgeous villa. With striking, minimal lines, the whitewashed home really stands out from the crowd. Inside, the house has been beautifully decorated in a contemporary style and is filled with natural light and well-thought-out furnishings.
The living space is open-plan with comfy sofas and a large dining table which looks on to the garden. Leading through to a chic fully-fitted kitchen, this whole area is an ideal social space for cooking and spending time together as a group. With five elegant bedrooms to choose from, three with en-suite bathrooms, there is plenty of space for privacy and relaxation too.
Heading outside, the landscaped garden is like a private oasis where you can spend the day taking a dip in the inviting pool or sunbathing on the stunning wrap-around decked area. There are also outdoor sofas and dining spaces, so you can spend lots of time outside enjoying the weather and the serene surroundings.
The nearest amenities are in Cassis, the centre of which is around 1km away from the villa. You will find everything you could need in this picturesque port town, including supermarkets, artisan bakeries, markets and restaurants. Cassis has a pretty harbour where eateries and bars overlook the crystal-clear water. From the harbour you can explore the town more by foot, by taking the little tourist train or by going on a boat trip to the famous Calanques which are a series of enchanting coves in the limestone cliffs. This area of France, known as the French Riviera, is known for its scenic beaches and there are lots nearby to visit. The closest beach is just 1.5km away! For panoramic views of the coast, walk up to Cap Canaille which is the tallest sea cliff in France. Around 7km away from the villa, this breath-taking headland is also a great place to visit if you are feeling adventurous as you can try out caving, abseiling or even just walk one of the many hiking routes which pass through Cap Canaille.
If you wish to explore some of the other nearby towns, then Marseilles is 32km away and Aix-en-Provence is 47km away, meaning both of these amazing destinations can be reached in under 45-minutes!
Located just outside of the centre of Cassis, with the start of the staggeringly beautiful Calanques National Park 2.5km away, La Dame Blanche is the perfect base for exploring Provence.
Cassis, one of the quieter French Riviera towns, has all you could need for a memorable holiday. The current town was mostly built in the 18th century but with roots spanning from the Palaeolithic era, through Roman occupation and medieval settlement the town is full of historic detail and character. The 13th-century castle towers over the town, perched on the Cap Canaille cliffs and below you will find a maze of streets filled with pastel-coloured buildings. Wander around and you will see lovely fountains, ancient churches and the grand town hall.
With artisan shops, small boutiques and some amazing markets selling fresh local produce, Cassis is a great place to shop. When you are feeling hungry you can enjoy a meal at a harbour-view restaurant or grab breakfast in a little street-side café in town.
There are a number of beaches in Cassis, including the sweeping Plage de la Grande Mer which is 1.5km away from the villa and smaller more wild bays such as Plage de l’Arène which is 4km away. The area is also famous for the beaches of the Calanques National Park; a Calanques is a tucked away cove which seem to be dramatically cut out of the limestone cliffs. There are a series of these coves, some easier to access than others. The easiest way to visit is by taking a boat from Cassis harbour which takes around 30-minutes to get to the first stop. If you prefer to hike then you can walk to the breathtaking Calanque d’En Vau in around an hour from Port Mio which is a 2.5km drive from the villa, the view as you approach the cove is well worth the walk!
If you wish to see more of the area, then why not visit a vineyard to try some of the local wines. Clos Sainte Magdeleine is just 2km away from the villa and is a coastal vineyard offering tastings of their white and rosé wines as well as tours.
The historic, multicultural port town of Marseilles is another brilliant place to visit and is 32km away, while Aix-en-Provence, a paradise for art lovers is 47km away.
