With wonderful living spaces and six individual bedrooms plus five bright bathrooms across two detached homes next to each other, Le Champ Vert offers a fantastic place for extended family or friends to gather together for a restful holiday. The owners have refurbished both houses in their own great style with beautiful historical pieces, quirky furnishings and modern touches, giving it a homely yet interesting feel. The impressive open-plan living and dining area is a convivial place to gather in the evenings. Head through the arch to the lovely kitchen which spills out to the al-fresco terrace where hours can be spent gazing at the views, dining on great food and fine local wines.
Outside, the open grounds offer wonderful vistas of the surrounding region and an especially large swimming pool with naturally filtered water, just perfect whether you wish to simply cool off or swim some decent lengths. Interesting pieces of sculpture are dotted around the gardens as well as shady trees, lazy sun-loungers and wide lawns allowing plenty of space for guests of any age to rest or play.
It’s only 1km to the local village, a quiet place where you can pick up your bread or grab a coffee. Within a 10 minutes drive is Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye (9km), a delightful little village famous for its pottery with a museum dedicated to this art form and plenty of workshops still thrive to this day. Here you will find some restaurants, a lovely patisserie and a supermarket. Exploring further afield will take you to charming villages and market towns such as Sancerre with its fine wines, Briare on the banks of the Loire or a little further to the famous hilltop town of Vézelay. The spectacular cities of Auxerre, Nevers and Orléans can be visited within a day or you may prefer to spend your time exploring magical castles, discovering idyllic vineyards or taking a boat trip or hiring canoes down the Loire or Yonne rivers.
With hikes, mountain biking and horse-riding nearby, as well as other family activities such as tree-top adventures, lakes and farms, there is a great deal to explore in this tranquil part of Burgundy, before returning to the wonderful space of your charming and characterful holiday home. Le Champ Vert is set in a hilly and rural area of the Nievre department in western Burgundy, 9km from the village of Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye.
