The largest beach of the Cascais-Sintra coastline, Praia Grande is the perfect stretch of sand to enjoy spectacular scenery with wonderfully imposing cliffs and impressive waves, ideal for surfers. You’ll even find fossilized dinosaur footprints which appear to walk straight up the near vertical cliff face. Although there are a great variety of amenities here you might also want to head a few minutes north to the picturesque village of Azenhas do Mar, with its whitewashed houses beautifully spilling down the jagged cliff. Cameras at the ready! Or head 5km inland to the popular Summer resort of Colares, set in the foothills of the Sintra Mountains where fabulous vineyards abound.
