This grand abode boasts a wonderfully spacious garden with private swimming pool, children’s play area and plenty of outdoor seating to make the most of the magnificent Portuguese sunshine. Quinta do Lotus is located in less than an hour’s drive south of the Portuguese capital, Lisbon, and sits within easy reach of a spectacular golf course and numerous beaches. Eight guests can rest comfortably across its four bedrooms, plus a further two guests can be accommodated on the sofa bed in the upper gallery if needed.
As you arrive at Quinta do Lotus, you will immediately feel like royalty, as the impressive exteriors and vast driveway welcome you in. The entrance hall sets the tone for the villa, with a large chandelier and double-height ceiling creating an opulent feel, and from the gallery above, guests cave wave down to those below and feel like true kings and queens.
Leading off the entrance hall, you will find the open-plan living and dining room. With wooden floors and cream walls, this large room has a spacious feel and is divided into two zones. To the front of the room is the dining area, seating eight guests comfortably, with a few extra being squeezed on if needed, this is a great spot to enjoy evening meals or simply relax and discuss the day’s adventures. The living area is focused around a central fireplace, with a wall-mounted television and two large sofas providing plenty of seating for everyone to snuggle up and enjoy a film or two. There is even a piano in this space so you can practise your pieces while you are away!
From the living area, you can access the spacious kitchen. The large central island is the focus of the room and offers further dining space with a breakfast bar seating eight guests on a selection of stools. A chalkboard has been painted onto one of the walls, and there is a mini-kitchen and other toys in the room, so the kids can play while you prepare delicious meals nearby. The kitchen has a farmhouse-style with blue cabinets and white worktops, and is equipped with all the necessary mod-cons to whip up a feast for the whole group!
Two of the four bedrooms can be found on the ground floor, both offering good-sized double beds. One even benefits from its own en-suite bathroom for added privacy, while the other shares use of a family bathroom also found on this floor. All of the bedrooms are decorated with rich wooden floors and fresh white walls, creating a calming atmosphere perfect for a good night’s rest. The remaining two bedrooms are found on the first floor along with a sofa bed in the gallery. The gallery has been set up as a small play area for young children, with a few toys and books that they will certainly enjoy – and the sofa bed here can be set up as a double bed to accommodate two extra guests upon request. The bedrooms on this floor each offer twin beds that can be configured as doubles if needed. Guests staying on this floor also share the use of two good-sized family bathrooms, one with a bathtub and the other with a shower, so there is plenty of space for everyone to get ready in peace.
The outside space certainly does not disappoint at Quinta do Lotus. The private 4.8m x 9.6m swimming pool takes centre stage, with a large terrace wrapping around it. The terrace is dotted with sun loungers, so you can enjoy the Portuguese sunshine before slipping into the pool to cool off. To each side of the pool are large covered areas. To one side, you will find the outdoor dining area with fridges so you can easily grab a refreshing drink without having to head inside. To the other side is a children’s play area, with a hammock, playhouse and swings, kids can safely play outside out of the sun. There is also a large lawned garden that is ripe for running around and burning off any energy that the kids may have.

This stretch of the Lisbon Coast is home to a number of beaches, and the nearest one to Quinta do Lotus is Praia da Telha. Less than 3 km from the villa, you can easily pack up some towels, snacks and games and head to the beach for a day out. Praia da Telha is known for its stunning golden shores and deep blue seas set on the backdrop of high, sculpted sandstone cliffs. These cliffs are unusually set back from the water’s edge due to the velocity of the 1775 earthquake that struck the area causing the earth’s surface to shift. This beach is also unique as it is located on the edge of the Arriba Fossil, an area protected for its geological importance and pine and eucalyptus forest.
The capital city of Lisbon is within easy reach of Quinta do Lotus, and it’s vibrant, charismatic charm. The city boasts a lively nighttime scene, historic monuments and a range of activities that will entertain visitors of any age. The Castelo de Sao Jorge has sat majestically over the city centre for centuries, and visitors here have the opportunity to learn about the rich, extensive history of the castle and the city. A ride on the historical number 28 tram is great fun! This quaint yellow tram rattles through the narrow streets of Lisbon and passes through many of the historic districts, including Graça, Alfama, Baixa, Chiado and Sao Bento, and is as good as any organised tour.
