When you arrive at Casa Matoeira, one of the first things you’ll notice is how quiet and tranquil the area is. Located in the sleepy countryside, Casa Matoeira has all the makings of the perfect Mediterranean getaway. This charming property has plenty of space both indoors and outdoors for its guests with a spacious driveway which you can use to securely park your car, extensive grounds and a traditional three-bedroom home.
Inside the villa, you’ll find rustic charm in abundance with gorgeous traditional wood ceilings and cosy decor. At Casa Matoeira, you truly feel like you’re staying in a home away from home. Everything about Casa Matoeira suggests homeliness and comfort, with a cosy living room focused around the fireplace and TV at the heart of the residence. Set just behind the kitchen is a simple kitchen that is yours to use throughout your stay. Casa Matoeira also has its own recreation room, with comfy sofas, tables for games and a full-sized pool table.
Three homely bedrooms are yours to make use of, one of which is located on the ground floor and the other two being upstairs. Each bedroom has its own private en-suite bathroom and either a double bed or two singles which can be pushed together to make a double.
Outside in the garden, you have a cosy dining area, lots of open space and your own private swimming pool with surrounding sun loungers. Also in the garden, beneath a covered terrace, is a traditional barbecue and an additional dining area.Casa Matoeira has a lovely location in the quiet Portuguese countryside, far away from the hustle and bustle of major towns and cities. Despite its rural location, Casa Matoeira is pretty to get to whether you’re adding a stay here to a wider itinerary or you’re heading straight to the villa upon arrival in Portugal. To get to Casa Matoeira by air, your nearest airport is in Lisbon and takes around an hour to get to by car.
There’s very little in the immediate vicinity of your villa, so you’ll need to drive into the nearby city of Caldas da Rainha for necessities like groceries which takes around 10 minutes. When in Caldas da Rainha, do take the time to explore the city in more detail as it’s a vibrant hub of local life with lots of cultural spots to take in as well as shops, bars and restaurants.
If you fancy a day out at the beach, your nearest beach is Praia da Foz do Arelho, which is surrounded by the town of the same name and takes around 20 minutes to get to by car. Despite Foz do Arelho being a little more geared towards visitors than Caldas da Rainha it’s still a lovely place to visit on sunny days as it’s less built-up than other beach towns in the region.
