On the eastern plateau of the Aphrodite Hills resort is Villa Macario. Enviably located as it looks over a well-known ravine and the twinkling Mediterranean Sea, this villa is truly exquisite. There’s a bubbling hot tub, a sauna and well-equipped gym – so luxurious. While this villa is a luxury private serviced apartment with its own pool, guests can access the resort facilities including the Retreat Spa and a myriad of swimming pools. Greenery cascades gently down the hillside, peppered with Mediterranean plants, shrubs and trees.
Jump straight into the refreshing azure infinity pool and gaze out at the luscious surroundings – for even more luxury, head to the bubbling aquamarine jacuzzi on the terrace. This is the perfect spot for a relaxing soak with a glass of wine in hand.
Enter the villa via the dramatic, glossy marble steps. Marble features heavily in and around the villa, while the exteriors are crafted in a traditional style from natural brickwork and stone. Tastefully decorated in a chic yet homely style with gorgeous accessories, the villa is spread among several levels. The French windows open to allow lots of natural daylight in, while colourful art is dotted around the property.
The spacious living room has a pair of plush grey sofas scattered with mustard and teal cushions, hanging woven pendant lighting and interesting yellow and grey beams. An oval wooden coffee table rests proudly on a textured rug that adorns the marble floors. There is a fully equipped kitchen with everything you need to whip up a family feast and outside, there is a barbecue. Several dining tables are available both inside and outside the property.
The master bedroom is on the top floor, featuring a double room with a fancy walk-in wardrobe and its own ensuite bathroom. On the same floor, there is a guest bedroom with twin beds that can be transformed into a double by zipping them together. Exposed wooden beams add a cosy attic feel, while bright weavings and cosy velvet chairs add character. The other two bedrooms are on the mezzanine floor, with the same bed arrangement – in total, the villa sleeps eight. All beds are dressed in crisp linen with cream or soft grey quilted bedspreads.The location of Aphrodite Hills could not be more convenient! Paphos International Airport is just 15 minutes away, and you can enjoy the peace and tranquility of Cyprus’s south west corner with all the unspoilt attractions and culture it offers. The resort slopes down toward the shimmering waters of the Med, providing stunning views from the villas and PGA National golf course.
The closest attractions to Aphrodite Hills are Pissouri Beach and Village. They avoid being over touristy even in high season and offer a chance to see the traditional character of Paphos; one all too often missed by visitors to the island.
There is also the beautiful, child-friendly Bonamare Beach. Aphrodite Hills offer a shuttle to and from the beach, meaning you can enjoy a cocktail from the beach bar without having to worry about driving back.
Pathos old town stands as an internationally recognised site of historic and archaeological importance. The Ancient Greeks believed Aphrodite rose from the sea at Paphos, and many ancient sites, castles, and traditional villages exist in and around the town, making for convenient day trips. This has earned the entire town a place on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List.
